The following song should probably be banned. Don't watch the video if you're easily shocked. However, it's a Russian song about wolf hunt through the eyes of a wolf. Also, it is an allegory on life in the former Soviet Union. The author of the song, Vladimir Vysotsky, was a Soviet singer, songwriter, poet, and actor whose career had an immense and enduring effect on Russian culture.

Banned for not clarifying what you meant by 'easily shocked'. Some things I am completely unfazed by, others I find very disturbing. You should say 'this contains distressing images of wolves being hunted'. I stopped pretty quickly.

Sylkat - DON'T WATCH IT.

Northern people, Finns and Russians especially, can be difficult to understand. Nature has made us that way. Nature is more than cute puppies sleeping by the fireplace, it's also shooting and slaughtering. As for wolves, they are not just another breed of dogs, they are beasts. They catch people and cattle, reindeer and dogs.

Now, wolves are also animals with feelings. Vysotsky's song is about these feelings. In the next video, there are no pictures. Just a rough translation of Vysotsky's incredibly harsh voice. It's Vysotsky's voice but remember - it is the wolf who is singing.

Now you can ban me.

Banned for not banning Krabo for the most obvious reason, in that he was actually asking for a ban.

(thanks for the translation Krabo)

If you are thanking me for translating the song, I have to ban you. I simply found it in YouTube.

I have a hunch that Vysotsky means very different things for Russians and Finns on the one hand and the rest of the world on the other. It's even possible that the two camps can never fully understand each other. Sad, in a way.

Banned because you still had to look for the translation. Actually, I tried too, but the fact that the titles were in Russian was problematic.

In some ways Krabo, different parts of the world will never understand each other. I believe that we have to enjoy the parts where we do understand each other, and the rest is just what makes life interesting. Reckon we could teach the UN a thing or two. 8)
