Hey!

I wasn't pattern-starting, I was pattern-continuing. There's a big difference.

If I don't start with Hey! does it mean I'm not losing?

Actually, "hei, no" (with a comma between) could start a sentence. Know the Finnish word "no"?

All right, it's a bit complicated. You'll learn how to use it if you continue your studies.

I know, I have to conjugate it. Unfortunately I got diagnosed with Aspergers about a week aft starting Finnish. It's been a little distracting 8)

Hey! I didn't mean to say "do you know what no is in Finnish" but, rather, "are you familiar with the Finnish word spelled no". My previous remark about complicatedness was related to this little Finnish word "no", not the English "no". And now this is getting complicated.

Finnish is complicated. Speaking about Finnish in English is complicated. But two people so far have mistaken me for a Finn :)
Imagine how good I'll be when I get to Kappale kolme 8O

In an interesting aside I tried to type something earlier and my ipad auto-corrected it into Finnish

Edit- oh yes, I remember "no" .....it's "well" :)

:thumright:

Yes, I agree. – When you talk about language A using language B, you call B the metalanguage. In a way it's easier if A isn't the same as B because in that case you can more easily pinpoint whatever you want to pay attention to in A. There's less danger of confusing "what is being discussed" with "how it is being discussed".
