tell me what you think, this was a recent discussion i had with a phycologist -:
Them - "Would you say this glass is half full or half empty?"
Me - "Yes"
Them - "Which one?"
Me - "both"
Them - "How'd you figure that?"
Me - <points to bottom half> "that halfs full" <points to top half> "that halfs empty"
Them - "im trying to find out if you are an optamist or a pessimist..."
Me - "but im neither.... im a realist"
Them - <puts their hands to their face and makes a groaning noise>
I think if your psychologist is not able to deal with more than two different types of people (optimists and pessimists) then it's time to look for a new and better skilled one...
In Dutch we have a word for this kind of psychology it's called "house, garden and kitchen psychology", the meaning is obvious i guess...
My brother said once if you are seeing a therapists, or psychologist or anyone to help you out
in some mental, emotional or any matter dealing with your inner self this person should be able to give you a good overview of what his/her intentions are, in fact s/he has to make an agreement with you like "We'll try to improve your social abilities now, or We'll work on your selfconfidence, or We'll learn how to deal with the obsessions that cause you or other people harm, We learn to better perform in work situations, etc. "
And maybe it's a good thing for yourself to have an idea what exactly you are expecting from her/him.
But I'm not an expert, so sorry if I'm talking rubbish, I saw some therapists, psychologists and psyciatrists when I was young but it didn't work out, the main idea was that there was nothing wrong with me and that I had had a bad youth...
Nevertheless I believe there do exist people who are able to figure things out and skilled in exploring our mental patterns (hence people who discovered about AS, very usefull insight if you ask me)
hm what you mean? am I going of topic?
well heuh, goodmorning fellownuts !
