I'll go for the 'home variety', though I'm essentially an instant coffee peasant. My experience of coffee outside home is largely confined to McDonald's (that's probably instant stuff, but it's surprisingly good...).

Dark 'Porter' type beers or citrussy pale ales?

Just the smell of whisky repels me. Rum isn't very nice either, but I can handle it in something like a Bacardi and Coke combination.
