You calling Yuna inspid? She's just too naive and altruistic for her own good, she doesn't lack character or intelligence.....
Besides, it is her story in FF X-2. She has to fend off a ghost that looks like Tidus, but isn't, who wants to destroy the world because he and his lover got killed. And she does it without Tidus or Auron.
I loved her in X. She was great.
I just couldn't get past the bubble gum coating on X-2. You make it sound substantially more kick-ass than the box and promo posters. I had the impression the plot synopsis was going to be something like "Hillary Duff and Vanessa Anne Hudgens have unexpected adventures while hunting for matching shoes for their new record tour, with the aid of summoned pink ponies."
The first third of the story is like that, and it is more light-hearted than FFX, but it gets more and more serious. First, after the first 20% of the story, a secret weapon called Vegnagun is revealed, but it is not until after a certain point later that it shifts gears to a story that looks at the corruption in the main factions of Spira, as well as an almost forgotten piece of history from the war between Zanarkand and Bevelle. The story is fairly shallow compared to X, but stands up well. It also gives some more background to some characters (that old story-teller from FFX, Maechen, has a rather unusual revelation regarding his past), and even adds a link between the world of FFX, and the world of FFVII.
