We call some high schools over here colleges, as well as vocational schools like TAFE. But we call universities universities or unis.

Organic chemistry. At the uni level, it is a b***h. Structural biochemistry was the only subject I had to retake the initial exam for. Thankfully, I didn't have to do so for the next subject, Metabolic Biochemistry (or as I called it, Metabollocks Biochem), although it was significantly harder.

DumbGenius has been out for awhile. Greenblue is here, just not posting in this thread much.

Raph, lovely avie.

Shades, the boys were absolutely delighted by Crazy Cat.

Organic chemistry, whoa. Four things come to mind.

  1. The prof who would enter the lecture hall ahead of the bell, already speaking, cover the chalkboard with writing from top to bottom at least three times in the course of the hour, and continue lecturing a half-minute after the final bell went.
  2. The phrase "Them as has, gits." It has something to do with electrons.
  3. A mysterious feeling of dread whenever I hear the word "stereochemistry."
  4. Being in the last available lab section, late on Wednesday evening, and getting blitzed on the acetone fumes while cleaning up.

I do, too. I remember a couple months ago, I used to check it first thing in the morning to see what all had happened in my absence. Same deal, after work. These days it moves a bit more slowly, but it still has a special "feel" to it.

You're not alone. When I was nine I saw just half an hour of it and I couldn't sleep for days.
