Perhaps what the kitten is doing is running away from a Hakarl Drying Shed.

Banned for not seeking out sheds and sniffing them, to find out.

Banned for a misunderstanding - hákarl is not prepared by drying the shark flesh, it is prepared by letting it rot in an earth pit. Yummy!

Yes, of course, but after it has rotted nicely, chunks or strips of it are hung up to dry over low fires in a wooden drying shed.

I saw some unappetizing pictures of the procedures while Googling Hakarl.
