thanks! i was pretty sure you were taught the cyrillic during the yugoslav years but i wasn't sure about it, after it broke up. next door serbia has active digraphia and they're still taught cyrillic? and it's the script of official govt documents, (or most of them).. so i'm guessing it's more or a sociopolitical thing than a linguistic thing.

Yeah, I think Serbia is still being taught both scripts with preferance over Cyrillic. and exactly, because of sociopolitical reasons.

We also had another script - "glagoljica" which hasn't been in use for a few centuries, and I think you might actually like it - I tried teaching myself it long time ago, in former century
