I wheedled my way into walking around these peoples property along a river today
and I heard a splash and just glimpsed this gorgeous little kingfisher catch a fish, bash it, and then swallow it!
I videoed part of it, the part where it flew onto a perch and swallowed the fish in the distance
stopped filming
kept walking
and Bang

the same little guy flew down,
nabbed a fish
and flew off

It was definitely an Australian kingfisher with blue wings and a red breast?

Never saw a kingfisher.

There are plenty of hummingbirds around here, though.

Isn't it Purple-Headed Fire-Spitting South Dakotan Hummer? Those are common in Scandinavia.

Did you not know that the Red-Headed Fire-Spitting South Dakotan Hummer has a purple head when visiting Scandinavia because the poor little birds are frostbitten?

Okay, you all need to take a moment to brush up on the facts! ! The only real South Dakota is in Scandanavia. All the other South Dakotas are just wannabes!! ! Not only that, but in Scandanavia, purple is red!! !! There is a scholarly article somewhere, stating these facts, but I can't find it. You'll just have to take my word for this, okay?!?!?! Oh - and it wasn't a bat, it was a flying fox! !! !! !! !! !
