"Ah f**k man! We needed him! Now I have to go read the entire libarary collection on agriculture and biology! And to top it off Sydney was decent guy before he went nuts! Whyja' go and knock me out Colonel!? I knew was gonna try and pull that! He would be alive right now if you had a little more trust in me! f**k yeah I have paranoia but I am not insane!"

Virgil sighed and layed back down.

"I'm betting you wished you had gone and died of CO2 poisoning now don'tcha Nida?"

Nidia's face twisted into what could only be described as a smirk. "I'm still kicking, aren't I? Better than what's out there."

Once in the medlab, Alan set about tending to Virgil's wounded hand. Feeling rather useless, Nidia collapsed into a chair and alternated between her meditation and searching Virgil's face for the slightest trace of insanity. A dozen contingency plans began to creep over her silent litany and smother it to death.

"What do we do with the body?" she finally blurted out.

"We give him a proper burial of course, Sydney and I might have fought but I respected the guy completely."

When Alan was done with his hand he hopped up. "Damn glad I am a Southpaw."

Cameron was sitting the chair next to Nida's and looking her over. "I think she thinks your batty, well your seeing me so you maybe. But who the hell cares honestly? Without you this place cannot go on."

"I'm going to suit up and bury him - I think we have an empty lead case in storage. Load it onto the forklift and have it brought up to the surface. I'll need someone to cover me just in case we meet some mutants."

Alan looked to Nidia. "I'm staying with Virgil," she asserted. "Obviously I know how to shoot and I don't do forklifts." With a defensive look she added, cryptically, "...plus I'm sure as hell not touching any more dead bodies by myself."

Virgil may be off his rocker, and he may not, she reasoned, but at least I'm getting to know how he operates. The other two men were as unmapped territory to her. She was disturbed greatly by the fact that she hadn't noticed anything at all amiss with Sydney. Previously she had considered herself to have a sort of sixth sense for mental instability in others.

She has been impressed today by how practical and enduring her new companions had proved to be. This translated, however, to danger in her mind. There would be no true rest here. It was apparent any one of them possessed enough stamina to carry out something incredibly destructive. Nidia wanted to live. "Let's go then."

"Alright Nida, it should be easy. Just watch out for lifeforms that bear extreme mutataions and load them with a clip and break for the warehouse. We don't have the firepower to easily take one down till I repair the explosives - it'll be simple but time consuming"

"I'll suit up and let Alan drive the box to the surface. This won't be too hard for me to dig but it's going to be long haul so stay frosty or we'll be mutated rat chow."

Dusting himself off a little he went off to suit up and pick up a shovel from storage. Cameron kept pace but was mostly quiet. Her outfit had changed also - now she was in the outfit she'd wear to teach. A long plain white skirt with a crimson shirt with a pocket protector and her graphing calulator inside.

Once he had suited up he made it back to the door in short time. Sliding his keycard though the lock control and finding to his satisfication the diagnostic was over and thinking I bet it all came out reading %110.

Once on the surface he marked off a spot for the grave and set to work shoveling. He hoped Nida would show up quickly so he could get some covering fire in case of a mutant attack.

((Feel free to do whatever's necessary with Nidia when I'm off and you want to advance the story.))

Virgil soon spied Nidia's suited figure trudging toward him. She nodded in greeting and grimly set about her task of keeping watch. She was beginning to tire but every time her mind drifted from her duties, a surge of adrenaline (which felt suspiciously like fear) propelled her back to full alertness. She seemed to be paying just as much attention to her companion as she was to the surrounding scenery.

"Interesting, you seem more afraid of me then the mutants out there." Speaking as he shoveled Virgil sounded completely relaxed and at ease with the area. "My reputation is only there because I decided to be honest with the guys and tell I was diagnosed with mild paranoia, over time they just blew it out of proportion."

"But in some ways it's good, when everyone thinks your mad they leave you be and when you make a threat they take you completely seriously no matter what it is. I mean, you people actually thought I would blow the place up! I had that whole thing planned from the get go, that thing Sydney had become was f*****g arrogant and had a massive stick up it's ass."

"I went to the armory to make him think I was going mad and being a paranoid f**k and then I activated the diagnostic system to jam the controls on the reactor - I knew he would try and stop me and used those lame ass speakers. All I had to do was hack the system and blow the rooms circuits."

"Then I put up the display at the reactor core, complete with convincing mad ranting and BAM! He comes out to taunt me and ends up sucking rubber slug. If the Colonel hadn't shot me I could've stopped him from killing himself to. That little prick didn't want to be caught."

"You wondering why I am telling you all this? Well, honestly the rest of them think I am completely mad now and I need someone how knows how the cards are really lying."

Virgil dug quietly for another few hours, only when they were ready to slide in the box did he speak again.

"I didn't want it to end like this...." Virgil couldn't hold back the tears "I'm so sorry Sydney, I let that monster inside you win."

When he'd let his emotions flow as much as he needed stood up again and got Nida to help him push the box into the grave.

"All's well that ends well, which is nothing in this case."

Returning to his work he maintainted slience untill they he finished burying him. Picking up some rocks and twigs he made a symbol from old Eygtian mytholgy for eternal life on Sydney's grave and whispered the words "Eternal Rest, Eternal Sleep, may it be peaceful and pure. May-kei, May-Kei (Nobody else in the bunker is capable of understanding the last words, they roughly translate as "Sorrows piled for the dead we loved".)"

Walking back into the bunker with Nida they sliently deconned and went their seperate ways.

I can't believe Sydney is dead. Alan thought to himself as he was in the library on sublevel 2.
What the hell went wrong with his mind that would make him go crazy? He wasn't like this at first. It was shortly after we started to go outside that he started to act strange if I remember correctly. But he's dead now so that doesn't really matter. He got up and went to
the comm room to see the last few hours the visual equipment recorded.

Virgil brewed the last pot of coffee they had. He needed it - he had nightmares about Sydney's death and they had ruined his night. The coffee was bitter and strong, exactly as he liked it. Cameron was still playing quiet, probably feeling gulity about helping lead to Sydney's demise.

"Well how are we gonna deal with this mess Cam? They all think I am completely mad." Virgil own face looked more beaten and undernourished then usual - masive purple rings had grown under his eyes.

"How do you know your not? Your seeing your dead girlfriend and even chatting with her." Her own expression was also grim and tired, showing more strain then usual. "In the end they cannot turn on you, your the only one with access to the keycard controls and the ability to maintain the reactor core."

"The Spanish woman make think your mad but she is not stupid either, she wantts to stick with the power in the bunker. And that my man, is you." Taking a smoke from Virgil she lit up and went on "I think she maybe a sociopath though, keep an eye on her."

Virgil felt only a little better with Cameron's speech over but it was enough to get him moving again. After finishing up the pot of coffee he went back out to make sure he really didn't damage the reactor.

Hahaha, sure showed those zombies not to mess with the cops!
Saldana stopped playing GTA: Apocalypse City on his Playstation 4 console. He had loved video gaming ever since his childhood, and wasn't going to give it up, ever.
The colonel went out of his room, after he had barricaded himself in there for 22 hours straight. He headed straight up to the command room, walking at an unmotivated, sluggish pace.

((The cameras are outside of the warehouse by the way.))

"Hmm, nothing on cameras 1, 2, and 3. I'll check cameras 4 and 5." On the computer that gathered the data he selected a box that had the camera names in it. He clicked the link and a pop up with a live feed from the camera appeared.

"What's this?" He asked himself. He paused the feed and zoomed in. It was what appeared to be a bi-pedal humanoid. "What the heck? Looks like one of the ones that we saw at those derelict vehicles!" He pressed a button and saw that Saldana was in the command room and he sent a message to Saldana. "I found something on Camera 4, I'm sending you footage from it right now."
Alan sent the last 4 minutes of video recorded to Saldana in the command room.

"What? Does it look mutated?" Saldana looked at the footage, seeing the humanoid's odd behaviour. It appeared to be female, with ragged, torn clothes, but no hair, presumably because of the radiation. It did look mutated, and mindless, too.
