Unfortunately not one of the animals I've personally seen in their natural habitat (I think I've seen one in a zoo) although I've seen elephants, giraffe, lions and so on in their natural habitats. I haven't been to a game reserve for years though.
I just looked it.up. The White Rhino is near threatened but not endangered, but the Black Rhino is critically endangered. They are being poached in alarming numbers despite all efforts to protect them. They even get killed within game reserves. There are major fund raising and conservation efforts underway. It's extremely sad to see how some people want to sell the (rhino) horns to the Far East at all costs for money despite the fact that there's no evidence it works as an aphrodisiac.
Inn fact the rhino may have given rise to the Unicorn myth. (the longer horn appearing as a single horn as the horn behind that is short).
Yes, I am painfully aware of how vulnerable rhinos are to poaching
The last few years the number of poached rhinos (and elephants) have gone up, due to Far East superstitions. The rhino horn horn is as effective against fever, cancer, nose bleeds, impotence etc as nails are.

In the link below you can read about a woolly rhino skull people thought was a dragon
