I am the people at Turtle Forums! I set it up to gather turtle things in one place, but although the site has gotten a few members, I'm the only one who's active there.

If an Aspie talks and nobody hears him, is he still wrong?

We are always wrong, even when we are right.

Enviro, have you ever been to Lesotho or Swaziland? If a South-African wishes to cross either border, do you need a visa or just passport? (Maybe not even passport, I don't know.)

Hey Krabo, only spotted this now.

I think we just need an up to date passport. To be honest I've never been to Swaziland, was going to go on a hike there once but went with a friend to the Kruger Park instead at the last moment.

I've never officially been inside Lesotho but we used to carry passports just in case wandering patrols asked for one up on the Drakensberg mountain escarpment, when we were hiking. But they never really worry about such stuff. The border line is in any case not clear up on the Escarpment where no one lives except a few nomadic Basotho shepherds. Some of the foot passes (which are long and difficult) are used both by dagga (cannabis) smugglers as well as Basotho who want to use the little stores down in KwaZulu-Natal, as they would actually be closer than any in Lesotho.

We'd need a passport to officially visit Lesotho or Swaziland via a border post.

Thank you for the information, Enviro. -- The sheer shape and location of these two small countries have always fascinated me.

Enviro, have you seen rhinos IRL? I think they're awesome, but obviously I haven't seen any myself.

Unfortunately not one of the animals I've personally seen in their natural habitat (I think I've seen one in a zoo) although I've seen elephants, giraffe, lions and so on in their natural habitats. I haven't been to a game reserve for years though.

I just looked it.up. The White Rhino is near threatened but not endangered, but the Black Rhino is critically endangered. They are being poached in alarming numbers despite all efforts to protect them. They even get killed within game reserves. There are major fund raising and conservation efforts underway. It's extremely sad to see how some people want to sell the (rhino) horns to the Far East at all costs for money despite the fact that there's no evidence it works as an aphrodisiac.

Inn fact the rhino may have given rise to the Unicorn myth. (the longer horn appearing as a single horn as the horn behind that is short).

Yes, I am painfully aware of how vulnerable rhinos are to poaching :( The last few years the number of poached rhinos (and elephants) have gone up, due to Far East superstitions. The rhino horn horn is as effective against fever, cancer, nose bleeds, impotence etc as nails are. http://www.care2.com/causes/rhino-horn- ... erial.html

I've always assumed that either rhinos or some similar species that have been lost in time gave rise to the unicorn myths

In the link below you can read about a woolly rhino skull people thought was a dragon
