Mum won't buy books for me from a store, but she'll order them through Doubleday.

I purchased Starship Troopers by Robert A. Heinlein and I also purchased The Saint, which is an omnibus that contains books 4-7 of the Gaunt's Ghosts series.

It's a shame you can't go to a bookstore, they contain a wealth of information that someone could read before they buy.

I often go to bookstores just to read some of the books there.

EDIT: Sorry for double posting.

Damn, not much choice. :(

What about eBay or Amazon.Com? Not to mention she can actually mail-order books from the major bookstores....

She won't use online stores.

And yet she'll order them through Doubleday? Isn't there a QBD or Angus and Robertson or a Dymocks near you?

We have a Angus & Robertson here. Nanna ordered a book from there once, but it had to come from the US. I got it though.

And your mum is unwilling to buy anything from that?

Weird. Why will she order from a book-club like Doubleday, and not buy something outright from A&R?

Seems like your mother is going through more trouble to get the books from Doubleday than if she got them from A&R.

I think it's because she hates taking me out in public.
