Autism is caused by the incredible amount of negative karma accumulated from taking excessive joy in farting just before departing an elevator and giggling as you walk past the victim/s entering the confined space (or alternatively, for the one very special time that the victims were nuns and you almost wet your pants with glee, thus inviting the wrath of God/magic space cow.)

I add to your theory by hypothesizing that autism is caused by sneezing more than six times in a row...awareness of this fact is nonexistent due to a filthy rumour about what the sufferer experiences during this sneezing fit...
