You should come for friends is what I think, but facebook is also good if you're bored (lots of apps + friends.)

WP is the first real forum I've been on. It's nice to have a trait or two in common with everyone as well.

The first BBS I joined was Hackers Dot Com, as I was obsessed with hackers at the time, having read 'Underground' by Suelette Dreyfuss. It was also the first BBS that I used the username 'Quatermass', as I was obsessed over that as well. I quit Hackers Dot Com over politics. Basically, a lot of people I had liked had been banned for no apparent reason other than spite (I was new to BBS politics at the time).

While I have had a number of memberships of other BBSes, the only two of note were VGMix's temporary BBS while they fixed it up, and the Darwin Awards Philosophy Forum. I must say, though, I only really matured on this forum, in terms of BBSes.

Hey, Quatermass - I saw the Colour of Magic over Easter. It doesn't live up to the books, but I still enjoyed watching it - and it's getting my kids interested in Pratchett's books, so that can't be bad.
