greyhound, a door closer is a mechanical device that is designed to pull the door shut, on a house door it may be a horisontally mounted tube shaped device with a rod sticking out one side and screw on other and mounted at middle top or bottom of the screen door.
the box type (example, see my or doro's avators) are mostly seen on heavy doors or commercial/industrial doors
Oh, one of those! Is that what they're called? Thanks
Just out of interest, why do you find them interesting?
interest in closers all started in 6th grade middle school, i was interested in cars and car shock absorbers all until i just had to LOOK UP while standing at classroom door waiting to go home. seen that nice industrial looking thing up there, instantly caught my eye. i also had noticed that many times a day i would find maintenance messing with them both on and off the door, and lots of them in the maintenance room so the curious aspie mind pretty much took over from there and i became expert in fixing them.
your bar code scanner now works in a local 7-11 with the cash register.
wheres all my Christmas presents, I didn't get any this year!!
