Mike nodds and gives Laura a thumbs up. He was interrupted by more telemetry from the station. "We have detected 3 more enemy carriers approaching Nexus station, an allied fleet is on it's way but they can't get here until a few hours after the enemy fleet."

Mike looks quite worried. "You know that carrier approaching Necus station? Well there are more of them that have been detected. This could be a problem."

( A clock in minecraft? Woooow! )

Laura looked at the ground and blushed. "T-Thanks." She said, before being swarmed by at least five other pokemon who she couldn't make out. "Haha! Mercy! Mercy!" she laughed. Peach the Mimikku pranced around, wearing the Clefairy coustume she made for her, Calem fist bummed with Sally the Hitmonchan. Everybody seemed really happy.

Laura squirmed free of the creatures and frowned. "More? But why?" she asked, looking curious.

Lilli looked concerned.
"Are they from the.. What's-it Federation?"

"You mean the Heiwa Federation? Yeah, it would seem so. They might be invading the stationbecause it can create wormholes to many other places that have a lot of resources. Taking that station could be a great strategic move for them if they decide to exploit resources instead of peacefully explore. The station could most likely overwhealm a carrier, but 4 carriers can easily take the station."

Laura gasped. "is everything gonna be okay?" she asked, worried.

"Is there anything we could do to help?"

Guinan was starting to scan pokemon when she saw a cute baby pokemon. "Ooh, a little electric one, Pichu!" she said as she scanned. Then, she heard Mike, and her smile evaporated. She turned away from the little pokemon and asked him, "What will happen now? Will you have to leave this planet?"

Calem whirled around, and Laura's eyebrows knitted together in concern. "Is it really that bad?" she asked. They had grown rather fond of Mike, and would hate to see him go.

Crap. Lilli thought.
If that was true, then their hopes would be dashed.

"If they don't take over the station successfully then I can still travel between here and there any time, for the moment though I plan on staying here. There are a lot of great people working to defend the station and I don't think I will be very helpful. I'm a scientist, not a soldier. I don't know what will become of this but unless you know where I can find space fighters there isn't really anything we can do from here."

Meanwhile, at the Nexus wormhole station:

"Sir, the latest observations of the incoming fleet by the CUBE7 Jovian satellite network show that the carriers have made a course correction, and now their estimated closest intercept distance is 5 kilometers. Considering that this station is 2 kilometers in diameter, they will basically be right on top of us and well within weapons range. The allied fleet has ejected out of the orbit of Ganymede and they are now on a high energy trajectory, but they won't be here for at least 12 hours." says the communications officer to Mason, the acting captain. Mason replies "So we only need to survive the invasion for about 5 hours before we have support."

They are in the primary Nexus control room near the outer rim of the station where there is gravity because of the station's rotation, out the window Jupiter can be seen looming near the station and many of Jupiter's moons are visible. The lights from a few colonies can be seen on Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. In the station everyone is preparing for combat by getting their space suits on and getting the few space fighters on the station ready for deployment by going through pre-flight procedures. A few ships are getting ready to leave the station with the people who don't want to be involved in the conflict, and everyone in the station is nervous about what is coming.

"My impression is that you've had enough of the science of war and that nothing from here will help the station right now. Am I at all close to the truth?" Guinan said with a shrug, indicating the Pichu and other pokemon with a sweeping gesture.

(OOC: That clock does sound like a major project. Oh, and cool station scene. I'm curious: why do the ships take so long to get to the station from one of Jupiter's own moons, Ganymede?)

"Yep, you got that right. Why must so many of the technologies I help develop end up being used in war? And yeah, unfortunately the station is on it's own and we can't help. Even if we could, this is not your war and I would hate to drag this Earth into it too."

In one of the Heiwa Federation carriers approaching Nexus station the fleet commander in a brown military uniform is standing in front of a large group giving a speech which is transmitted to the other carriers via an encrypted signal. "My fellow soldiers, I am aware that this battle will not be easy. The Solar Alliance has a fleet on the way that is a match for ours, but after we arrive we have 5 hours before they do. If we do this right we can take Nexus station. We are not just fighting for a station, but worlds without number. If we can succeed in this then this will be our greatest victory since the capture of the Lunar north pole. We have also received intelligence which suggests that Mike, the merchant of death himself, is on the station. We are superior to the Solar Alliance in terms of man power and economy, their technology is all that stands in our way and with this station we can have that too. The Heiwa Federation will reign supreme!"

By the way, it takes so long because the Moons are quite far from Jupiter. With a low energy trajectory it takes over 3 days for a ship to go to or form Earth's moon, and Ganymede is further from Jupiter then Luna is from Earth. Jupiter's high gravity will make a low energy transfer be faster, but it still takes a while and the allied ships are taking a high energy trajectory to shorten their flight time although that uses a lot more fuel.

Lilli frowned slightly. They were glad Mike didn't have to leave, but at the same time they couldn't help but worry about his partners at the station.

Could the Pokemon fight?

...No. It was too impractical.


Sighing quietly, they admired the trees rustling in the wind. It was so tranquil... They wondered if they'd ever seen war here.

"I understand," Guinan said. "This earth has its own battles to fight, in its own way." She looked toward Laura as she said this.

The Pichu that Gunnian was playing with was now in Laura's arms. "Mimi! Mimmkkyu!" Peach squeaked. Laura picked her up, snuggling her wih the Pichu.

They had indeed seen war on that earth, namely the one with AZ. The Team Flare incedent was two years ago, but it permanently etched in Laura and Calem's heads. In Geosenge Town, there was a giant hole in the ground, where the Ultimate Weapon had broke down. All five of the kids that had took them down haven't been there since, even if they needed to get to Shalour City they would just take the shortcut through Reflection Cave. Laura, rethinking that time, wrapped her long dark brown pigtails around her body, a habit she had when she was scared, and leaned against Calem.

"It's so peaceful, and that could all be gone in a second." She thought, shivering.

Mike looks around and sees everyone's reaction. As he's trying to think of something encouraging to say he feels something on his leg and looks down to see Litten rubbing against him. Litten looks up at Mike and says "Litt". "Aww, you look and act a lot like domestic cats do back home."

The tip of one of the fingers on Mike's robotic hand folds back to reveal a powerful laser which turns on at low power to create a little red dot on the ground which Litten starts chasing around. After doing that for a bit Litten shoots a flaming hairball at the laser. Mike steps back a bit scared and Sam puts out the fire with a small fire extinguisher. "Litt?" Litten looks at Mike a bit worried that he may have done something wrong. "Hehehe, cats back home definitely don't do anything that awesome." Mike goes over to Litten and pets him. "I'm usually more of a dog person, but I'll take him. Is there any paperwork I have to do? Is it a problem that I don't have a legal ID from this planet?"

Charley Plank, the captain of the USS Hercules, was just finishing up with the transition to cruising mode. The long cylindrical carrier had started it's slow roll again just a few minutes ago. The zero G was fun and all, but he didn't have much time for that and gravity makes things operate much faster. The 9 Hyperion engines were making their quiet rhythmic pulsing sound as they accelerated and expelled argon gas in pulses, the cruising phase was nice because they pulsated much slower as the longer spin-up time increases efficiency while decreasing thrust. It would be great if they could increase thrust to get to Nexus faster, but they are already stretching their fuel supply as is.

The blast shields on the windows open up revealing Jupiter almost directly ahead of the ship and Ganymede slowly sliding past them, two other carriers can be seen a few kilometers away as well as a smaller gunship. Hang in there Nexus.
