I'm not familiar with Little Debbie cupcakes - but they sound tasty.

Advanced Chem, eh? I rather like someparts of chemistry, but not enough to go advanced!

(Maybe I'm not being fair, usually the more I learn the more I like subjects...)

More like "Advanced Placement", it's a second year of high school that would correspond to 1st year college General Chemistry. Goes through Bohr's equations, intro to QM, a lot to do with equilibria, electrochemistry, kinetics, and now I'm on to nuclear chemistry which is the last module before I do two modules of review.

Ten questions in the practice problems, for a partial mistake take half a point off, 0.5/10 = 1/20 or 5% It's not really that big a difference.

The smaller the sample group the larger the apparent differences are.

Most of those are interesting...except for equilibria, which is a pain in the ass, IMO. I always remember it when I open my two liters of pepsi and it goes "shhhhhhhhhhhhwww", though. Nuclear chemistry is one of the best parts, IMO. Radioactivity especially.

How can you find the discipline to homeschool yourself with so many distractions?

Yeah, decrease in concentration of CO2(g) and loss of pressure would shift the reaction to the products side. I wish I had more than a microchemistry lab though, even if it is safer. Nuclear chemistry is cool. Fusion would be nice if it didn't take so much energy to start it.

Yes. :D

It also explains why pepsi is tastier when it's cold...more acid. Maybe equilibria isn't such a pain in the ass after all. ;)

I used to have a microchemistry set when I was 10. my parents bought one for me but never let me use it. Go figure.
I sold it eventually...unopened.

Fusion? nah, Fission is cool.

How...Poetic. :P

I hate it when people aren't willing to put in the work for their win.

and i just realized that the color is *so* off on this laptop... (it's my moms) ad the embarrassed smiley is all weird.

It's the sort of reddish pink, that you usually get, but waaaay way more purpley.

Yeah, especially WP... I make time when I can and particularly when I feel awake and interested in the subject at hand. Sometimes I just have to force myself to plow through material because it bores me or I disagree with it (like linguistics textbooks which argue by definition the distinction between "communication" and "language" so they can claim that animals "don't have any "languages"".) I usually do best when I'm not bored, and so do most people, and this is sometimes called "unschooling" and it usually leads to better grades overall.

I've tried to have my stepdad help me, since he has a degree in Chemistry and Physics, but he is mostly uninterested in my education, so I have to press myself to do the work and research extra stuff on my own rather than asking for help. He and his paycheck are the reason I have no financial aid until I turn 23, so I have another year to study and prepare.

Other distractions... mostly my sister takes care of my diabetic mom, the birds do like to visit and take away the pencil lead or steal paper from my notebooks sometimes but I could lock them up if they got to be too big of a nuisance, exercise in the middle of the day but I need to lose weight. Most things around here aren't too bad, but since I'm home all the time one of my primary functions is to keep the house clean. When I tried getting a job at fast food places I found I couldn't study at all because of the crappy way I was scheduled (I really need financial aid for college because there is no way for me to study and work at the same times, it is just difficult to switch gears all the time for me.)

I tried out public school once for 9th grade, but hated the social stuff and left 2 months after. Grades were 100% most of the time, but I didn't care for being around so many people. I think homeschooling is better for me at the very least. I was sort of lazy for the first four years after my dad died (13 through 16), but I decided I'd do my best from then on so I'd never have to go back to public school. Since I've been working the last three years (19 through 21), I'm now more used to people and don't expect to have problems at college.

Meh. I'm homeschooled. I hate public school. I'm not learning traditional crap either.

The main problem with school is that it can be boring and it might even have more distractions (all the people, talking, walking, feet shuffling, whispering, mediocre teachers talking nonsense etc.).

I was mainstreamed all my life, and I don't think I have the discipline to homeschool myself, even though sometimes I get the urge to learn something new. I just don't.

I like a lot of school subjects, if I don't like it, it's mostly because I don't understand it.

Which subjects don't you like?
