History wasn't my strong point at school. It was mainly about remembering Kings and Queens of England and the dates of various battles which I found very boring. 1066 battle of Hastings etc. I guess England has a lot more history than America anyway. Science was more my thing - I soak it up like a sponge.

^Actually I was pretty good in science and history. British History has deeper roots than American which is good but some people take it for granted a lot.

Ask kids nowadays to recite pieces of Australian history (including moi), and they'd be struggling.

I do know that the first Prime Minister of Australia was Edmund Barton, I know what years Cook, and then the First Fleet came to Australia (1770 and 1788 respectively), and I know a few other bits and bobs, but most of my Australian history is confined to the past few decades. A pity, really.

Weirdly enough the battle that I'm talking about is merely a footnote in history because Gen. Lee mentions to someone after the war. Not a lot of people know about because it is overlook unless you are one of hardcore American Civil War historians who has done plenty of research on it. Heck I just learned about it myself last semester. Yet here is a funny fact about History, if Britian declared war on the Union for different reasons supporting the Confederacy, Canada would be in US hands today due a small number of British troops stationed in Canada during 1861-1865. Yeah a really shocker and it was the reason why Britain did not declared war in the first place along with not supporting slavery as well.

I dunno the answer, and much less care. It puts the whole purpose of the Civil War into perspective when you know that Abe Lincoln wanted only freedom for African Americans, not equality.

There was more than that because if he wanted to be freed then why he did stated in his second inaugural speech in 1865 that he will give African Americans rights which led Booth to assassinated him along with failed attempts at Andrew Johnson and William Seward. Also the war wasn't about freeing the slaves when restoring the Union (North) or states' rights (South) were the main reasons for both sides to fight. Slavery became apart of the purpose to fight, however if you didn't know in 1861 in the border states when Union generals declared slavery abolished, Lincoln reserved those orders to keep those states with the Union. I'm just pointing out that when you look at the subject, you need to look deeper then what you know.

Anyway I'll give you a hint, NAR are the intials where the battle took place in Virginia.

I dunno, but did you know Arlington Cemetary used to be a tobacco plantation for one of the South commanders, and it was dug up and used to bury the Rebel dead?

Yes I knew because who's land was it, Robert E. Lee and his wife. Also it was used to bury Union dead soldiers not Confederate at the time because Arlington was in the Union hands through the whole war. By end of the war more than likely Confederate dead maybe buried as well though I think that skeptical due to the mood of the nation towards the South at the time.

Actually no Trigger11, I win but here is new questions for everyone to answered.

What U.S. Navy had the nickname, "The ship won't die"?

The Iron Brigade received its name from what general and at which battle?

The Fame Iron Brigade of the Civil War was fulled called what and what regiments formed the Iron Brigade?

The answer to my last question was the Battle of the North Anna River which were small skirmishes than a full battle like Cold Harbor and the Wilderness.

Okay, JerryHatake, sorry to spoil your little game, but I want to ask a question myself, relating to a fictional war...

In the original Star Wars trilogy, there were a number of actors (mostly British) who had been involved with Doctor Who either previously or since.

Name three. (There are six, from memory)

Peter Cushing
David Prowse
Jeremy Bulloch

My questions stand still because history helps us learned from our past to prevent the same events from occurring sometimes. I'm adding another question now.

What are the six carrier battles of the Japanese-American Pacific War in order along with the outcome of each battle?

Damn! Those were the more obvious answers though.

Here are all of them.

Peter Cushing played Dr Who (a human, non-canonical version) in the two Dalek movies in the 1960's, although he never appeared in the TV series himself. He appeared in A New Hope as Moff Tarkin, sadistic administrator of the Death Star.

Dave Prowse played the Minotaur in a Doctor Who story set in Atlantis, The Time Monster, although he is best known for playing the body of Darth Vader throughout the original trilogy.

Jeremy Bulloch played heroic archer Hal in the Doctor Who story The Time Warrior, and Boba Fett (in body) during The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Don Henderson played Gavrok, an evil villain attempting genocide in the Doctor Who story Delta and the Bannermen, and played General Tagge, the Imperial officer whose 'lack of faith' in the Force Vader finds 'disturbing' (and nearly got throttled for his troubles) in A New Hope.

(Actually, I made a mistake on one, but there are seven...no, eight! actors. Interestingly, two of them also appeared in For Your Eyes Only...)

Michael Sheard played six roles in Doctor Who, the best known being Laurence Scarman in Pyramids of Mars. In The Empire Strikes Back, he plays Admiral Ozzel. (He also plays Hitler in the Lucas/Spielberg film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade)

Julian Glover played two roles in Doctor Who, as Richard the Lionheart in The Crusade, and as the villainous Count Scarlioni (aka Scaroth) from City of Death. He plays the role of General Veers in The Empire Strikes Back.

John Hollis plays Professor Sondergaard in The Mutants, and Lando Calrissian's cyborg aide in The Empire Strikes Back.

Finally, Peter Diamond, stunt coordinator on all three of the original Star Wars films (as well as playing minor roles, such as the Tusken Raider that assaults Luke in A New Hope) also did stuntwork for Doctor Who, as well as a number of minor roles, the most distinctive being the slave Delos, whom Ian is forced to fight to the death in The Romans.
