Cows can walk upstairs, but are unable to walk downstairs.

I choose the actor. I observe NT's. I listen to their socializing. I practice it, so in social situations I can just emulate/mimic what is expected.
It isn't natural for me, but it enables me to "fit in".
It is VERY tiring and draining, but at least we can appear like them even though it is an act. Like being on the stage.
They can't see it is emulation, and so we are accepted.

Cheetahs are the only cats whose claws do not retract.

The Guinness Book of Records holds the record for being the book most often stolen from Public Libraries.

The Puerta de Hayu Marka, the 'Doorway of the Gods', a doorway carved into solid stone, leading nowhere, has never been explained, though many rather mystical theories abound.

Cheetahs are also the only big cats that, when domesticated, treat their human masters the way dogs do.

P.S. Thanks for taking up the Puerta de Hayu Marca, Sylkat. I had never heard of it!

Obscure fact:

Krabo does not know where the 'Door' goes, either!

There is also the mysterious niche or alcove at the back that no one can explain the purpose of.

The Greeks had no word for 'blue' (the color).

Viking warriors carved gouges into their teeth...no one is sure why, but some believe the purpose was to further terrify their enemies.

Water is the only substance on earth that is lighter as a solid than a liquid.

Strictly speaking, the following links do not point to an obscure fact. They point to the most mysterious, alleged UFO incident ever recorded. What makes it interesting is that it took place in the former Soviet Union and it is fully documented. No UFO sightings or encounters are reported, there was no one left to report -- but the aftermath makes your hair stand on edge.

The following two YouTube videos are parts 1 and 2 of a Russian document covering the case. They speak Russian, but you can turn on captions, just hit the CC button. (Then turn off the small panel by clicking on Options, then X.) It is called the Dyatlov pass incident. There are several videos in YouTube about Dyatlov pass, but these two are the most comprehensive. -- Sylkat, I am looking at you. You will find them interesting.

Hmmmm...only some of the clothing of two of the victims showed radioactivity?

And when the files were opened, pages were missing, as was an envelope, contents unknown?

Broken bones with, supposedly, no bruising?

A 'natural force' was responsible?

I don't think so.

Some people do not believe that Diana, Princess of Wales is buried on the island in the lake at Althorp.

There has been a strong rumor for years that she was cremated and her ashes given to her sons.

Another rumor is that she is buried on the island, but has no headstone;that the famous marble urn is not her gravesite.

Contrary to popular belief, suicide rates during the Christmas holiday are low. The highest rates are during the spring.

Queen Victoria spoke with a bit of a German accent; so did Queen Mary.
