Sindri walked across the deck, and put the engine fire crystal back into place. He pressed a button on the engine panel, which caused the fire crystal to start releasing fire energy again. A weak crystal. Sindri had a blue crystal, which was much more powerful. It would release much more heat, too dangerous for the airship's engines to handle.
He asked Irial and Marie again, in a harsh tone "What happened?"

Dibble looked at Alaric.
"Could you please tell me what is going on? I know the Soul-Gobblers are after my soul, and the Bear, so they can go after the soul of the cosmos, but what else is there out there?" she asked. She looked to the sky. Ethotoms? What else was her husband hiding.
"Who is my husband? Really? Tell me!" she demanded of Alaric and Quatermass. Tears rolled down her cheeks. "Why don't I know anything when I seem to be the cause of the trouble?" (No really odd for Dibble to be the cause of trouble, but I think this time she's in well over her head.).

He asked Irial and Marie again, in a harsh tone "What happened?"
Irial grinned mysteriously, enjoying the fact that her useful secret was out.
"I asked Alaric to help me move the ship. There was no way I could have done it on my own. I had no idea where he was.
And yes, before you ask, I do know magic. Only it's not your type. I'm an Elemental*."
She was surprised by her own blunt honesty. Irial typically never told anyone about her magic unless she absolutely had to, not since what had happened with Master Silversword, and she could have easily lied to Sindri.
Irial looked over at Marie, who had been quiet for quite some time. She looked withdrawn and sickly, quite unlike her typical self.
"Marie, are you alright? You don't look good."
((*I made this idea up on my own, as a less restrictive, extremely rare form of magic which is only constrained by the ideas the Elemental can create. For more information, check out the other thread.))

Apathy is not a vice, it is a relieving and downright enjoyable life-choice.
"There! Satisfied?" he grumbled to the rapidly departing Ethotoms. "And that was someone else entirely who stole your confounded card."
Koschei had survived. He always did, somehow.
Alaric was slowly recovering from the ordeal of the battle, and already he was being plagued by questions. He corrected himself internally. Dibble had been through a great deal too, recently. He sighed, wondering whether Quatermass would answer first. As the awkward silence followwing Dibble's impassioned questions stretched out, he decided to break it (the silence).
"Well most of my memories are quite disordered at the moment," he began cautiously. "But I appreciate that this is very important to you and shall try and search them for the information you seek. Some of what Ethotoms has said seems to trigger vague recollections in my mind... Ah, we did train together! But we both had different names, and I think quite possibly different bodies, at the time, and it was a very long time ago. We were squires together, training to become great warriors (very tolerant chivalric order, welcomed representatives of any sentient species or hybrid of different species that showed any promise with a blade). I came to have grave doubts about the whole killing thing. Being rather a studious fellow (I used to get teased about this by Ethotoms) and rather given to contemplation, I contemplated becoming a monk of the Scientian Order, founded by Prior Knowledge. One problem with this was that I had for some time been quite drawn to someone by the name of Eledhwen, further on in training than Ethotoms or myself (they accepted all genders as well as all sentient species - masculine, feminine, androgynous, completely asexual...) who shared my kinship with the Eldar, but not with the Time Lords - complicated interdimensional genealogy. Quite a romantic family history, you know the sort of thing, or perhaps you do not. Well, anyway, she had actually begun to reciprocate my interest. But the Scientians are supposed to be devoted to the pursuit of Gnosis and Enlightenment to the exclusion of all else. Some of those under minor vows who do not wish to proceed any further are not required to forswear conjugal relations permanently, but even their training is required to involve millennia of abstinence (for a long time the order was pretty much closed to anyone not exceedingly long-lived, but comparatively recent developments in chronokinesic tempororetardation have enabled them to get around this difficulty)." He paused to give them all time to digest his words.
"Well, understandably, Eledhwen was not happy about my proposed change in career path. She considered, probably quite rightly, that I was a coward. Things were very awkward for a time. Well, one night as I was deep in profound meditation, I entered a deep state of awareness. My conflicts manifested themselves to me as an entity. At that stage, not particularly evil, but a separation that took place resulted in me being in some ways only half a man, while also bringing into being Ra'a Ruach..." He paused to take a deep breath.
"But you will be wishing to learn more of Ethotoms. Perhaps Quatermass can help you there. I have more that I must tell you soon, but your need to learn the answers to your questions is clearly urgent."

Dibble took in a breath. Long ago when she was human, she'd often dreamed of such adventure. Now it was happening to her. She just wanted to rest.
She was a little angry at Tom...or....Ethotoms....for not telling her. She was hurt by his departure when she needed him.
Ethotoms was back at the old training grounds. Unbeknowst to anyone, he'd been in love with one of the instructors here, and now she was dead. Part of him wanted to let go for Dibble's sake, but the honest side of him wouldn't let go. He couldn't love Dibble, it had only been an excuse for his own cowardice, his fear of killing a child.
"I'm sorry Dibble. I'm sorry Quatermass. I'm sorry Alaric." he muttered. He could now remember his old friend Alaric. He, Quatermass and Ethotoms had been firm friends, but they'd drifted apart.
Alaric's memories drifted back as he waited to see if Quatermass would recall anything else to share with Dibble. How could he have forgotten for so long? Admittedly it had been a long time ago by many people's standards (though he was not certain how long it had been for Ethotoms, or for Quatermass either; given some of their movements in time keeping track was difficult... What sort of friend was he? He had basically drifted away. Perhaps all three had to some extent... And Eledhwen. He had never explained to her that his reluctance had partially linked to a vague concept that pain was instrickably linked with conjugal relations, and he had no desire to hurt her. Now, he knew, she was far away. He sought Ethotoms. He sensed a great agony and withdrew lest he be intruding where he was not wanted.... Wait a bit, the old training ground? The energy of the place was unmistakable! For Ethotoms to have returned there at a time like this... He thought back on various memories, which now recontextualised, making certain things clearer__. How could he have been so foolish? He turned to Myrrhdyn to see how she was bearing up. She seemed weary. He had replenished enough of his own stength to sacrifice some to her. Exhausted, he turned to the other new arrivals... He glanced uneasily at Sindri. Last time things had not gone so well. There was still quite a bit to do, and he had only banished Ra'a Ruach, not brought anend to his existence...

Quatermass blinked at Alaric.
"Huh? What's happened there? What happened to my head?"
Quatermass' use of artron energy to jump-start Alaric back to consciousness had sort of switched his mind off, leaving him on automatic. But now.... Tom (he could tell it was Tom) had become some sort of creature, who had left.
A memory came back into Quatermass' mind. An Other memory.
"Ethotoms...."
The Soul Wrought of Terror Corrupt.....
Parts of his training, lifetimes ago, came back. Whereas Ethotoms trained to use ki and the natural elements in his abilities, Quatermass had learned to use only the ability to manipulate time and space, but to a great degree. Who their trainer was, he couldn't remember. But the two had been friends, as well as competitors.
But in order to save a world a lifetime ago, Quatermass had sealed away his memory. And that, along with the trauma done to it over the years, had precluded any hopes of completely regaining all of it. However, he had heard about how 'Tom' had saved this girl's life, and had been in trouble for it. But Quatermass had seen so many people who seemed destined for good or evil purposes, only to turn around and defy expectations...

"I don't know what happened, exactly..." Marie trailed off and turned her head, wondering where the ship may head. Was there someone pursuing again? Maybe now was the time to jump worlds away if her dream magic wouldn't act so finnicky. Blinking she rose to her feet and stretched out her arms before closing her eyes again.
"If I went to another world, maybe even Cryssna I would be safe and the artifact would be away from those people." Marie suggested, unsure if Sindri would approve. By now she was more inclined to listen to Irial, maybe even take her along with her if she so wished.

"Apparently I'm so powerful, yet I can't even defend myself or convince my own husband to protect me. I might as well hand myself to the soul-gobblers right now." she groaned.
(( I figure Dibble deserves some self-pity!))
"And condemn the universe to non-existence? Sorry, but I have a few objections about oblivion..." retorted Quatermass. If this girl had such a source of power, and it may be needed, then there may be only one way to unlock it. Crisis. An extreme crisis. It might be cruel, but the alternative was that she be destroyed.
Drawing on his power, he duplicated Thanatos and tossed it to Dibble. As she caught it, rather clumsily, he time-slashed, and they were now 31 km in the air, on the edge of Gandesha's atmosphere.
"I have provided air enough for both of us, but once we commence this, you will be free-falling for about 4 and a half minutes. In other words, you've got that amount of time to either find your power, or forfeit. If you forfeit, I will return us to the ground safely. But should you not forfeit before 4 and a half minutes are up, well, you've got maybe another 30 seconds to find your power, or perish."
((Sorry for being cruel Kezzstar, but I'm trying to force Dibble out of her apathy and get her some power.))

((I liked it!))
Dibble threw the sword to the ground.
"SHAN'T!"
Without warning, the Bear had floated up to her chest height. She was angry at everything.
"DRAGON FORCE FIRE!" she screamed.
Her Dragon Force was unleashed, only this time it was four flaming dragons rushing towards Quatermass.
He dodged with expert skill ((sorry about powerplaying)).
Dibble blinked.
"Did I just....Did I just do that? I am really really sorry!" she slowly returned to her old carefree self. "I feel a bit better now, but my head's confused in some places, and I really want to know some answers."
Then she realised she was falling.
"To quote my husband-oh f***." Dibble swore for the first time in her life. Then she grinned.
"DRAGON FORCE PLANT." she tried. Out of the ground rose four vine-like dragons which caught her and lowered her to the ground safely.
"WOOT!" she jumped and whooped around.
Ethotoms turned his head. He sensed Dibble's Dragon Force.
"Hmph." he thought. No one in history had been able to use the Dragon Force to toy with the elements, but here was this pathetic child who could.
He wondered if he should go back and tell Dibble the truth. That he never loved her and never would.
Alaric was impressed by Dibble's feat. However, he was worried about Myrrhdyn and Marie. And Eledhwen of course.
Prior Hafgan was supervising the work of some of the Scientian experts in block transfer computation. One of the Scientian brethren came to him with a puzzled frown on his face.
"Prior, some of these latest numbers in the sequence... They seem wrong."
The Prior grinned paternally. "My son, those alterations are for a most blessed task, additional to the slowing of entropy in Gandesha."
He left the room soon afterwards, with two small objects concealed in the voluminous folds of his sleaves.
Alaric thought back on his past. He decided to confide the rest to Myrrhdyn.
"After I realised what I had done in inadvertently bringing Ra'a Ruach into being, I decided, rather than to complete my novitiate with the Scientians, to join the Shaft'ur warriors, founded as a counterdefence against the Black Templars, in order to gain the knowledge necessary to best my foe. After all, it combined aspects of my two previous careers..."

((Dammit, I was going to make it a more epic duel!! ! It takes over 4 minutes to fall from that high up in the atmosphere. I got the idea from a story I wrote. Bugger!! !
Why is Ethotoms being so ornery? Has he changed, or has he been taken over, or what? Why did he save Dibble from annihilation then, if he never loved her?))

Prior Hafgan strode purposefully towards the companions.
"My dear Quatermass, what an unexpected pleasure!"
"But I don't understand," muttered Alaric.
"No Alaric, you NEVER do." Then turning to Myrrhdyn, "Why Myrrhdyn, you HAVE been naive."
Casting aside a doll that resembled one of the Scientian monks, he withdrew a brand-new Tissue Compression Eliminator, for this was one of three things he had reworked the block transfer computation to create, and pointed it at Myrrhdyn. The second was a fully functional TARDIS (he had reorganised the genetics of his new body and given it Rassilon's Imprimatur to enable him to use it) which he had been concealing in the form of a stone pillar. "You will allow me to escape with Myrrhdyn and Marie or the former will be dealt with by this device, which I am certain at least two of you will recognise. Also, if you attempt to follow me, you will find it will cost you everything." Then unable to resist himself (and knowing how much it would irritate Alaric, Myrrhdyn and Quatermass) he yet again said the words, "I am the Master and you WILL obey me!"

Sindri looked out to the village, and saw that his enemies were approaching.
He spoke to both his comrades,"We must head north, and nowhere else. With haste as well."
The Black Mage waved his hand towards the engine, and the ship started to accelerate and ascend.
"Mount Kiriath is many miles noth of here. We will first head through the Grey steppes, after leaving the rest of the forest. Though our destination is far, we have an airship, which can take us quite high. Only enemies we have to look out for are other airships- either sky pirates or those of my enemies, anti air weapons, and terror vultures. Good thing this airship has two heavy, rapid fire nailguns, and a ballista."
Sindri sat inside the cabin, and lit up the oven, which was also heated by fire crystal. He took some ham, and put it in.
The airship headed north, to the Grey Steppes...
