Skilpadde is from Norway, this is public information. It is I who am from Finland. No one from Sweden? I am a fluent Swedish speaker.

I lied. I have an accent.

Sylkat. We have been friends for a decade. Did it really take you this long to find out this incredible detail about me?

My memory does things. Mooms, I am old. How incredibly old I feel at times. Nobody wants to share my numbers.

I have brown eyes and fair complexion, and I am very easily sun burned.
True that, genuine smiles make everyone look better.

Skilpadde I think you look quite a bit like I imagined you to look. I know what Kip looks like as he's posted to the pics thread, and you are indeed accurate.

I don't think any of the ladies on this thread are part of the high heels brigade. They all prefer comfort to style and books to makeup.

It would be fun to arrive at Oslo airport and see if I could recognize Skilpadde among the crowd...

I checked the thread out just now, so now I know too! :) I was close. It?s fun when you imagine what someone looks like and get it fairly right!

Comfort and books hold true for me at least.

That would be fun to see. Just look for the one with the nicest shell!

Probably true for Sweden but I?m Norwegian.

Where green turtles with red masks are found in abundance, there being plenty places for them to hide among the rocks along the fjords.

That?s true!

Yes, it?s a little shocking to not know that when I think about it. I don?t think there are any Swedish regulars in this section of WP.

Indeed! I?m as good a lurker as these:

Or maybe I am one of these. You?ll never know?

Did anyone of you know that Oslo is pronounced like Uslu? Oosloo? Now you do. It takes a Finn to tell you.

6 and also 28 seconds into this video you can hear how we say Oslo here in Oslo.

Lots of other places in the country pronounces it Os-lo instead of Osh-lo, and with thin rather than thick L.

So the Finnish u's are pronounced like the German u's then?
In Norwegian u can is pronounced like the oo in "too". And sometimes like the "o" in Oslo (said in Norwegian, not English).

The English Os-low is far from how it's said here.

But nothing beats when we were in London. The hotel we stayed at had us listed as being from Aslow. True story unfortunately.

Which would have pleased the Germans if they HAD been able to take over the world, as they were trying to do.....German was intended to be the universal language, you know.

In the time before WW2 it kinda was too. Plenty of people here knew some German, and a lot of schlägers at the same time were German. It could be said that back then German was close to being like English is now.
