What's that latest smiley thingy doing? Is he a chameleon catching a fly, or is he meant to represent a thermometer gauging extreme heat or cold due to two delightful women wanting to visit you for tea and dried fish cookies?

Compromise? Bone tea? Or tea in bone china?

Tea bags steeped in boiling vodka instead of water, for that sensation like a reindeer stag's kick?

Oh.. For some reason I thought you lived in Helsinki. Well, you're still very welcome to join us for the meet-up if you want to travel to Helsinki to meet us..?

And of course everyone else in this thread is very welcome to join our meet-up as well if you happen to be in Finland at that point in time! :)

Krabo's off-the-beaten-track out-of-the-way village may be worth visiting, which is sop frequently the case. You can't have seen a country just judging by its capital city. Many are the treasures buried deep in the stark woods...

I've lived in lots of different places in Finland, including the town that was voted the most miserable town in Finland. So I've been in the woods, and I don't want to go back there ever again. :D Krabo will just have to come to us. Now where were those kanelikorppuus..

What's the name of 'The most miserable town in Finland' Riikka? I'll have to look it up.

I've been to a couple of Aspie meetings. As you said, I think it was easier. When we had nothing to say we just kind of ruefully laughed. I think the best thing though is always to have something focussed to do (like the book thing you were saying about), then it doesn't matter if conversation is hard.

enviro, I already told you, I'm not going to eat those dried fish cookies.

If Krabo ever gets over his horror of visitors, I'm taking my own food. And teabags. :P

Cats like dried fish.

Krabo has a cat.

Therefore logic tells me that if he serves dried fish cat food to visitors who drop by, he won't even have to go out and specially get cakes and/or biscuits. :P

Mooms, it's Pieksämäki. I don't know if it's still the most miserable place in Finland, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is.

Krabo has a cat? A picture of the cat, please! :)

I still haven't seen a picture of the cat, and I've been here a lot longer than you. Mind you, I've never been quoted in Krabo's signature either.

Apparently it is a similar colour to the kitten avatar he had up recently. :D

*Googling that place now. I'm pleased at least that it's not Krabo's town*

Wow Riikka, you are brave! Theta is one of my favourite people in the world, but when he mentioned he might come to NZ I hid under my duvet in panic! In the end, it didn't happen. You didn't even flinch when I suggested it.

I am serious about coming to Finland, to see the country, try out my Finnish and meet up with my Finnish language exchange friend. It would be awesome to meet up with you, as we seem to have a lot in common. I just might have to talk to you via internet for the first half an hour. I find online much easier than real life. :P Trying to speak in a foreign language makes it even harder. I plan to try to come over next time I am visiting my family (I am originally English), maybe next year.

I have never met anyone from WP in real life, although of course I would love to meet all of the regular gang. I have exchanged photos with some of them, but I still don't even know what Krabo looks like.

That would be so cool! I would love to travel to another country farther away than Canada, and Finland with all of you would be the best thing ever.

I'm still sorry that I shocked you like that Mooms, I think you know Aspies can be a little impulsive too, but of course it would have required more planning than what I gave it. The flight there from here is reaaaaally expensive, too. So don't worry, it would be pretty difficult for me to turn up on your doorstep without warning.

So I would want to meet people too, but without panicking them. :P We could always set up a video chat sometime, as a stepping stone. That way we could get to know what each other are like in person, without actually being in the same room. And you know you can switch someone off if you have to.
