Quatermass stopped struggling and grinned at Dibble.

"Nice trick, but don't show all of your cards. EON Wave!! !"

This time, a shockwave of energy destroyed the dragons and knocked Dibble back. He then drew Chronos. He now had two blades in hand.

"You have two weapons. Now I have two. You have the Thanatos copy, and the Bear. And I have both Time and Death on my side. Chronos and Thanatos. Now I know you can withstand this."

He shot three shots at time-dilated speed. If Dibble didn't have something in her, those bullets would actually have a chance of killing her....

Dibble turned her head to the side. Her hand raised, and the bullet's stopped.

Three holes appeared in Quatermass's leg, blood leaking out at an incredible rate.

Dibble stood up as Quatermass healed himself.

"Did....Did I do that?" she asked, as the three bullets dropped from the ground.

"You did. You little b***h, you did!" said Quatermass, half-angry, half-elated. "That was a 'Projectile Temporal Reversal', though Faction Paradox called it something like 'Bullet Reversal' or 'Bullet Voodoo' or something."

Quatermass' face was now something half-deranged, filled with joie de guerre, although Quatermass rarely actually enjoyed battle.

"I'm not holding back. Well, I will stop short of life-threatening/altering injury, but if you fight below one whit of your true ability, I will give you many scars to remember this by."

Quatermass lunged at Dibble and then used Time's Shadow again, his multiple selves now moving faster than before slashing repeatedly at Dibble.

"Come on/

((Yes, there were only three on the airship))

Sindri opened his eyes, disorientated as to what had happened. He must have blacked out...

'Argh, what has happened?' The black mage could feel that he was tied up, and bound to something.

There was a black sky, and Sindri realised that he was on top of a tower, facing outwards. He looked down to see nothing but streaming black cloud cover. There was some light, seemingly coming from behind. He was tightly bound by rope to a bloodied metal pole. There was chanting coming from behind...

"The mage has awoken" A squeaky but horrid sounding voice said.

Sindri looked to his left, and saw that Irial was unconscious, also bound to a black pole.

To his right, there was no-one.

Only one enemy capable of doing this....

Lord Kronos must have found the Night Stone, and opened up a wormhole to the Necropolis. If there was any chance of getting out of here, Sindri would have to destroy it first.

There was a sudden smash of metal against metal, and Sindri felt the ropes slipping away.

"Welcome to the night" The voice went again

Sindri went into freefall, and could feel himself descending at great speed...

The elixir! Sindri cast a distortion spell, slowing down his descent greatly, and got the liquid his companions had given him out of his bag.

The fools thought his bag a mere worthless trinket, and did not come to part him from it.

The black mage took a sip of the liquid, and thought of wings. He grew two dragon wings, and mastered them before stopping the distortion spell, and flying upwards at hellish velocity, fire in his hands.

Sindri viciously struck the enemies at the top of the tower, and took Bloodbane, freeing Irial. He grabbed Irial's things, and descended down slowly, below the clouds...

The ground was barren, dead wasteland, of ash and pools of black blood.

Sindri landed on the ground, and smelt the repugnant air...

Dibble lifted herself into the air. The Bear was back in the pouch around her waist, and it too was ready for action.

Dibble wanted to try. She wanted to cause trouble, she wanted to be the best!

The swirling blue mass around them stopped. Dibble lifted her hands, and blue tendrils of nothingness shot out of the ground, going after the many Quatermasses.

She then flashed her big light, hoping to blind Quatermass and prove to him that she wasn't just some little monkey, she was THE clown-faced monkey, and that NO ONE should mess with her!

"Holy....!" yelped Quatermass as he quickly pulled out of Time's Shadow and looked around, dodging the blue tendrils. Now the stone platform was merely in nothing. The only place where nothing could be something. The Void between universes.

She can manipulate the Void!! ! That was the power given to her by the Soul-Gobblers. The last time I saw those who could wield such power, they were consumed by their power. Enuo....Exdeath....Xemnas....but the almost innocent nature of this being allows her to use it without being consumed, at least, as far as I can tell.

The flash of light didn't catch him off guard this time. He then opened a portal that the tendrils jumped into.

"Return whence you came, to the Void."

Now things were going to heat up.

"Hey, Dibble, you've ever seen Deja Fu* with a sword before?"

With that, Quatermass launched an attack using Deja Fu, but found that many (but not all) of his attacks were blocked.

She doesn't know it completely, but she not only can manipulate the Void, but Time itself. She had the same innate ability that I had when I started out...

*(From the Wikipedia article on Lu-Tze and Deja-Fu)
Déjà fu
Lu-Tze is the only known practitioner of Déjà fu; best described as "the feeling that you have been kicked in the head this way before."

In Déjà fu, the practitioner travels in time as well as space. He can go back in time and hit his opponent with a series of punches. From the opponent's point of view, the practitioner is standing motionless in front of him, but he feels the effects from the past attacks. Also, the practitioner can put parts of his opponent's body out of time with respect to the rest of the opponent, making attacks ineffective, preventing the opponent from moving or causing the opponent to trip.

It bears a strong resemblance to the temporal fugue technique from Roger Zelazny's novel Creatures of Light and Darkness.

Other forms of martial arts on the Disc (the Discworld) (and Lu-Tze's opinions on them) include:

Okidoki ('Just a bunch of bunny hops')
Shiitake ('If I wanted to thrust my hand into hot sand, I'd go to the seaside')
Upsidazi ('A waste of good bricks')
Tung-pi ('Bad-tempered flower arranging').
No Kando ('You made that one up').
It is not immediately clear who on the Discworld practices these arts, though they are mentioned in reference to the monks of time, who are known to practice martial arts in general.

Relates to the French phrase "Déjà vu" (a feeling that you have experienced something before even though you haven't) and the term kung fu (used in the West to describe the Chinese martial arts) to make a pun "The feeling you have been kicked in the head this way before".

Dibble LOVED this! It was SO much fun!

Time, Space, the Void, Dragon Force, Big Light, they were all her toys. She could play with them, destroy them, fix them.

Fix them?

She dodged, blocked, weaved and taunted. Even a couple of stinkbombs found their way into the fray. Using the Void she could create anything she wanted to annoy Quatermass.

But there were bigger things at hand.

((Okay, NOW I'm going to powerplay here, Kezzstar...))

"You still think that this is a game?" yelled Quatermass, upon seeing Dibble's grin, and smelling the stinkbombs.

Quatermass knew that he would have to finish this soon so they could recover, and save Gandesha. And he knew how to finish this....

"75% EON Blast!", he yelled, charging up, then moving behind Dibble at extremely high speed, fired the blast, hurling her into the air.

What he was about to perform was a technique he had rarely used (and even now, he wasn't doing it at anything near full power).

Nex Adveho Ut Tempus. Death Comes to Time....

It was basically an overload of Time's Shadow, but with a greater turnover of copies. If he was doing it for real, Dibble would have been shredded by a high-speed version of 'Death of a Thousand Cuts', but his attacks were more energy-draining than physically injurious.

He watched as Dibble threw that teddy bear out from her. Oh no, not gonna catch me again, thought Quatermass. He'd never used Nex Adveho Ut Tempus against two targets before, but....

Thousands of copies of Quatermass screamed through the air, each one speeding by with an attack on either Dibble or the bear before disappearing as time reasserted itself. Finally, Quatermass pulled off what many would consider an impossible feat: a dual finishing move on both Dible and the bear, two Quatermasses plunging out of the air, swords firmly down. As the two smashed into the ground, the whole area disintegrated and started to peel away into the Void.....

....and they were there, back where they'd left Myrrhdyn and Alaric.

"Damn, she's good." muttered Quatermass.

After hearing about Myrrhdyn from Alaric, Quatermass frowned.

"Only one thing I can do. I did something similar to you earlier, Alaric, but because she doesn't have any Time Lord blood in her, it will take some time. Days? Months? Years? But she's done all she can for her world. We will let her rest."

Quatermass then looked at Myrrhdyn. "Please trust me."

Quatermass concentrated as much energy he could spare into an Artron Crystal surrounding Myrrhdyn. A beautiful blue crystal, surrounding the beautiful healer of Gandesha.

"Her biological and mental processes are slowed down to nearly a halt, so a year in the crystal is only a second to her. Artron energy will help her heal. She needs it."

((There you go, Graelwyn. An easy solution without killing your character. Oh, and the Nex Adveho Ut Tempus is a sort of hyper-version of the Omnislash move used by Cloud on Sephiroth at the end of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. I thought it more interesting to make it on two opponents as well.))

Alaric watched as the Artron energy formed its crystaline casket around Myrrhdyn. He understood the need for this, but sighed as he thought of the prolonged absence of meaningful contact with Myrrhdyn. He paused, gazing at the beautiful structure that Quatermass had created, and agreed that it was fitting for one such as Myrrhdyn. Before setting off alone after Irial, Sindri and Marie, with a limited amount of regret for having missed the duel of Quatermass and Dibble, he checked the block transfer computation figures of the Scientians to see if Koschei had sabbotaged the postponement of heat death as well as generating a new TCE and a duplicate of his old TARDIS (to the extent that you can have a duplicate of a TARDIS with a fully functional chameleon circuit, unlike the Doctor's). He appeared to have redirected the excess energy from the dead world of Charn (the Ectospace Continuum being already full coping with preventing a similar cataclysm in N-Space - in the sense of Normal Space or the positive coordinates of the Whoniverse, not Null Space) towards___. Alaric was alarmed by what he realised. He hastily sought the alternative timeline and place where the airship had recently been (he was levitating at a fair height at the time). Seeing the wormhole, he trembled.
"This is not good." Nevertheless he followed without hesitation.

Irial was astounded to find herself at the top of a high tower, bound and chained.
She looked over to see Sindri taking a draught of a strange liquid, not unlike the invisibility potion he had given her earlier. Then he came over, and unbinding her, grabbed her pack and flew over the side of the tower.
Wait.
Flew?
Irial had not noticed Sindri's wings, and realized that the potion was where they must have come from. She had to catch up with him. He had her pack! Picturing the pack in her mind's eye, she willed herself exactly two feet to the right of wherever it was, as of course, she had no desire to tackle Sindri. Sometimes she wished she knew normal magic. There were far too many loopholes for her liking.
"Where's Marie? Is she OK?" She asked, pulling her hand through her hair in a vain attempt to detangle it. When that question went unanswered, she asked, slightly exasperatedly, "Where are we?" When he started walking away, Irial lost it and yelled to his retreating back, "What the hell happened?"

"Hmm, strange dark lands..." Marie said aloud, trekking acrost the dead earth and seeing a tower up high. Sure she wanted to go to another world but it wasn't what she had in mind exactly. Scratching her chin the cabbit thought of what might have happened to Irial and Sindri, but for now she was alone and wandering. What would she need to do to find the other people? Would there be anyone looking for that peculiar artifact?

Dibble was estatic. Positive vibes bounded around her like children at a fair.

"That was SO cool! Can you teach me? Can ya? Can ya?" she hopped, skipped and jumped around Quatermass.

Meanwhile, at the old training grounds, Ethotoms had come face-to-face with the Soul-Gobblers and their allies, the Goblins and the Vampires, all members of the EE.

"Can I help you?" snarled Ethotoms.

"You failed your mission. How sad." the head Soul-Gobbler, Angelica, sneered. "You were supposed to deal with the brat and eliminate the threat to the cosmos. But you chickened out."

"How could I kill an innocent being?" Ethotoms snapped back. "She never knew!"

"But now she does. And it's only a matter of time before she realises why she's still alive. Not out of love, out of cowardice." one of the Vampires grinned.

"You came here for a reason, I'm sure it wasn't to taunt me." Ethotoms growled.

"How would you like to see your beloved instructor again?" Angelica asked.

((Meanwhile....))

"...And that EON Blast is totally rad!" Dibble continued, at a million miles an hour. She still hadn't sat down, and was still bouncing around. "And when you dodged my tentacle thingys, that was so AWESOME!"

The Bear was smiling up at Quatermass.

"You're my new best friend!" Dibble annouced.
