Short-shmort! Compared to yesterday's series of one minute long wins, a five minute run is not unimpressive.

Reminds me of a funny conversation I had with a French doctor. In French the body is known as the corpse. The doctors who work in accident and emergency do "reanimation". All I could think about was Frankenstein and the lightening reanimating the corpse.

Various amusing differences in language usage. In French if you are feeling too warm you can't say that you are hot; you have to say that you have heat, otherwise it means you are feeling sexually hot. Not the thing to say on a warm day to an elderly neighbour

I'd hate trying to talk in French to a native speaker. I'd sound like a 3 year-old.

I had a conversation with my French neighbour this morning for half and hour or so, he doesn't speak a word of English. I'd say my speaking ability is probably that of a three or four year old. I muddle through though. Where I don't know a word I use other words. All good practice. He seems to enjoy talking to me and my efforts in French.
