E.T.--That's how overly emotional I am. Besides, that motion picture is the best example of gesamtkunstwerk I can think of. (Wagner's works could never get anywhere close to that theory. The only other works I can think of are Verdi's Falstaff and Bernstein's West Side Story.

tough choice, I'd go with the wizard of oz simply because every performer used their actual voice, there was no voice-over nonsense going on like with the sound of music where Christopher plummer used bill lee to dub his singing voice for him.

do you think voiceovers are ok
or
do you think they are a gyp?

Blabby,

I thought I told you in a different thread that Christopher Plummer re-recorded his musical numbers in the Sound of Music many years later using his own voice?

Personally, the choice of whether to use a voiceover artist in films nowadays is moot, since, other than Disney, nobody does film musicals any more.

from the sound of it, the version ABC broadcasts still uses the old voiceover. and "uptown girl."

which one-

"I saw her standing there"
or
"it's all over now"

Sorry, I've been posting using only an iPhone, as the video on my iPad went kaput and I'm still waiting for the non-Apple repair shop to return the repaired unit to me.

Anyhow,

Pavarotti or Bjoerling?
