hey guys, I haven't been posting in a while because my keyboard stopped working after a tumble to the floor. It was old and whimsical already, but that seemed to kill it. I have been stuck with using my mouse for clicking and copy pasting for almost a month. It suddenly lit up again yesterday, so I hope this old, worn out keyboard will keep working now. I do have access to a Chrome book if needed, I just prefer using my desk top, so I haven't been posting lately.

Kraftiekortie, I have never heard a turtle purr, but I have heard them make sounds that are reminiscent to the croaks of a frog. IDK what that sound means, but I made it once when my turtle Nemo was on my arm, and she cocked her head and looked at me. I never made that sound again, seeing as she reacted to it and I didn’t know what it meant.

I wouldn’t be surprised if turtles had sounds we can’t hear at all. Some animals do, including animals as different as mice and elephants. Animals are so wonderful!
:D

Seeing the pic I posted above, you'd think turtles purr! I'm sure they purr on the inside anyway :)
My dogs actually had a sound that was very close to growling, but was only made when they were enjoying themselves, like being petted or lying almost asleep and relaxed.

Sorry to hear about your keyboard problems. I hope it hangs in there, or you manage to get a new one. It's no fun not being able to communicate.

That tortoise hug looks lovely Skilpadde, here's another:

Two messages in a row...I'm on a roll. :D

Thanks, Moomingirl. This computer has been a problem machine. Only two-three weeks after I started using it, its original keyboard stopped working, so I had to use my old one. (We tried to have it repaired, but it worked on and off and they claimed to not find anything wrong with it.) Then it started to turn off when in use, which they did do something about (but after being serviced, which took twice the expected time and in which they managed to forget to include all the cords, the mouse stopped working so I had to go back to using my old mouse as well).
then it started to lose net while I was on and would then continue to freeze. It did so a lot last fall, and now it's starting again. I think I need a new computer. I'm really fed up with this.
But the keyboard is working at least.

Thank you for the lovely tortoise pic! How nice does that look! :D

Just like this: Image

Urgh, I hate it when things aren't working properly. It's so frustrating.

Here's a picture to cheer you up:

And here's one for Sylkat, just because it made me think of her when I saw it:Image

(Not that I think Sylkat looks like a hedgehog covered in bubbles, you understand. Just that I thought she would appreciate the cuteness).

Wow, I didn't think a tortoise's bite would be strong, but they are demolishing that pumpkin!

Sorry I didn't come here yesterday Skilpadde. It was a bad day. Too much input, too many people. Luckily I can have a quiet day today at home on my own. I need a nap to catch up with myself again.

I thought you might appreciate this one on bad days yourself: :)

Their bite is quite strong. They are giant tortoises though.

Aww! Such a cute image and text! That can def cheer me up on a bad day. Thanks! :D

No worries. Though your absence was noticed, I certainly understand your reason. Only too well. :(
I'm sorry you had such a bad day yesterday! being overwhelmed is horrible :( I find the only truly useful thing when it's real bad is to sleep it off. Nothing can compare to that. My mind just needs rest then.

Thanks for the link to that amazing story. Lovely little Torty has had quite a life! It was hard to read about her injury though, but she obviously survived well and has a good life.

By the way, why are people from New Zealand called Kiwis? is it after the bird or the fruit?

You're right Skilpadde, when you're overwhelmed sleep is the best thing. Thankfully I had a very quiet day yesterday, so I'm feeling much better today.

New Zealanders are called Kiwi's after the native birds. They are rather rare, and nocturnal, so I've never seen one in the wild. I've heard them once, when we stayed at a national park where they were protected. Of course I've seen them at the zoo too.

I'm not sure if you know but I am originally English. I moved here 14 years ago now.

So glad we have a tortoise moderator, one that can retreat into her shell from time to time! Great stuff!
