As they ran in, Cid turned around to see what was attacking the Garden. His mouth gaped.
"Holy $#!T!"
"Who or WHAT is that?" Quistis wondered out aloud.
"Looks like a GF, but I have no idea. It appeared similar to the way a GF appears too." Squall said.
"Something green flashed on that moon first." Zell pointed.
"Junction everything you got everyone, this is gonna be one hell of a ride!" Selphie pulled out her nunchaku.
"Hold it, attacking it might not be the best idea. Cid? Are you there? Do you know what this is?" Squall yelled into the controls.
Quistis held her chain whip tightly. If they had to fight it, could they?

Cid ran to the bridge in time to hear Squall's yelling over the comm's. He had recognised the grotesque pink creature from a summon materia he and the others found in an isolated forest three years ago.
"Squall, this is Cid. That creature is Typhon, a summon creature. It's very powerful, especially when it sneezes! Get the hell out of there!"
He then turned to the weapons banks. "Have we got anything that can deal with a summon creature?"
"Mako cannons, sir. But with that thing still clinging on to them, we won't be able to shoot."
"$#!T!" Cid turned back to comms. "Squall, got a little problem. We have the firepower to blow that thing to kingdom come, but it'll damage the Garden. Will you knock the damn thing off first, or do you want me to risk a shot?"

"The magicite drive is gone." Fran looked up at Balthier. "It appears that all of its energy was drained in that explosion."
"Well, that's not good." Balthier commented, scanning the horizon. He saw a massive structure in the distance. "Looks like we head that way."
They savlaged what they could, but as they prepared to leave, Fran suddenly froze.
"What is it?"
"Someone approaches. Someone powerful."
Balthier looked around and saw a man in red walking towards their ship. He unsholdered his rifle.
"Don't let your guard down," he said. "I don't know what's going on here, but I don't like it one bit."
Auron had been walking for quite some time when a large surge of energy startled him. Reflexively he grabbed the handle of his sword and readied himself for battle. Up above he saw a rift briefly open and an object gradually phased in. "Another airship"? He watched as the air ship sputtered and struggled to stay afloat, and then crashed to the ground. "You want to have a look at it...? I hope they aren't friendly then". Auron relaxed his stance and then casually walked in the direction of the downed airship.
As he approached it, he saw that the design was completely different from Al Bhed machinery from his own world. As he slowly walked past he saw from the corner of his eye a woman with dark skin and silver hair with large ears at the top of her head wearing a suit of fine mail mesh, and a man dressed in fine clothing with lots of jewelry and an ornate breastplate. The man was pointing an exotic gun at him. Undettered, Auron continued his smooth casual gait past the two with one hand on the hilt of his sword all the way past the pair and to the edge of the wreckage until...
Balthier's fears were slightly alleviated by the fact that the mysterious red stranger had not attacked them on sight. He had simply strolled past them to stop at the grounded Strahl. Balthier spoke, his usual eloquent mannerisms masking a storm of fear, confusion, and curiosity.
"Excuse me, stranger, but do you perhaps know where the nearest aerodrome is? Our ship was hit by something, and I do believe we've lost our way."

"Summon Creature? Tell me, is that your equivalent of a Guardian Force?" Squall asked. Not waiting for an answer, he ran to the bridge.
"Stand back, I'm going to summon Ifrit. Tell Cid we're gonna shift Typhoon off the Shera." he commanded.
"No way! It's too dangerous!" Quistis cried.
"I don't want to risk damage to the Garden, or injury to any of the students here." Squall pointed out.
"Let me summon Quezacotl then." Zell stood up.
"Zell?" Quistis and Squall gasped in unison.
"Well, Shiva will make that thing sneeze, and Cid said that was a bad idea, and we can't put our leader in jeopardy." he reasoned.
"Alright..." Squall groaned. "You go Zell!"
"That sounds like the Squall we all know and love!" Quistis giggled.
Zell ran to the bridge of the Garden, and summoned the bird-like GF Quezacotl.
Powerful electrical energy surrounded the GF. Quezacotl harnessed it, and fired it directly at Typhoon, making it lose balance.

GF? WTF was that? Then, Cid watched on one of the magnification screens, showing the guy with the weird hairdo and the tatoo summon a large, bird-shaped mass of electrical energy. Cid was impressed. The only electrical summon that he knew of, off-hand, was Ramuh, and currently, all their summon materia was with Yuffie at Wutai...
So, a GF was a summon. But it was strange, they didn't seem to be using materia....
Typhon lost his grip on the garden and fell off, comvulsing.
"FIRE THE MAKO CANNONS!!" yelled Cid. Green streaks of light screamed towards the summon, who exploded into green light.
Cid breathed a sigh of relief. The Mako Cannons on the Shera were a smaller version of the Sister Ray developed by Heidegger, Scarlet, and Hojo. Unlike that monstrosity, however, these Mako cannons used a much smaller amount of Mako, derived from materia found shortly after the death of Omega Weapon. Cid didn't think they'd ever be used so soon, or so successfully.
He surveyed any damage. The only damage done to Garden seemed to have been that done by Typhon. He punched up the comms.
"This is the Shera to Garden. Cid here. The summon, that's a GF to you, has been destroyed. But I must warn you, I dunno how you guys do your summons, but whoever summoned it used a Materia, a crystal orb, about six inches across, and, if it's a summon one, is coloured red. I'm heading to Wutai proper to try and find the person who usually keeps our materia safe. Over."
As Cid finished, the comms-officer said, "Cid, we haven't been able to re-establish contact with the WRO, Wutai, or Edge."
"How's our own radio equipment?"
"Good. Maybe the comms stuff on the ground got damaged by the dimensional flux causing extreme electromagnetic fluctuations."
Cid muttered, "Boy, where the %$#@ did they teach you technobabble like that?"

Quezacotl vanished, and Zell re-appeared.
"Not bad." Squall said as Zell looked up at him hopefully.
"Materia?" Quistis wondered out aloud. She turned to the comm.
"Would this shiny thing here be a Materia?" she asked, pulling a small green orb out of her pocket.
Squall examined it.
"Looks like something you'd find at a Draw Point." he said.
"Maybe we'd better search for other Gardens. Selphie and Irvine will want to know what happened to their friends." Zell pointed out.
"Easy." Quistis said, pushing a button near the comm.
"We just sent out a distress signal to the other Gardens. If they're anywhere, within five minutes they'll pick up and respond. If not....well..." Quistis sighed.
Zell sighed as well, and stumbled a little.
"You better get some rest Zell, you don't look so good." Squall said. Quistis was also a bit shaky, and he himself felt a little ill.
"Cid, could that Materia have any side effects?" he asked wearily.

Auron stopped and then thought about whether to speak or continue on his way. He relaxed his grip from his sword and spoke, head forward and back still turned to the duo. "Maybe you will lose more than your way". With that he turned to the others and calmly said "It approaches". He pointed to the sky. As if on cue a massive whale-like creature with 4 limbs and a long tail descended from above the clouds and slowly headed directly above but still very high above the three. It let out a bellow and a half dozen small pod shaped pieces of it broke free and crashed down all around the the wreckage. "Brace yourselves"! Auron said, swiftly drawing his sword and standing ready for battle. "We must work together". Just then the pods folded open into vicious reptile like creatures. Cid was bemused by the news. "Using Materia shouldn't have any side-effects per se. We try to restrict usage more to reduce strain on the Lifestream of our world. However, direct exposure to the Lifestream, particularly in the concentrated form of Mako, can lead to poisoning. But you don't sound like you've been poisoned by Mako energy. You woulda been droolin' and gibberin' on the floor if it were..."
Suddenly, a thought occurred to Cid. "Scan-op, replay the dissolution of Typhon, right now! Check it for the J-signature!"
"J-signature? But that's..."
"I know. Do it!"
Cid watched as the main screen of the Shera came alive with an action replay of Typhon's death. Only this time, it looked like a thermal image. This was in fact salvaged DEEPGROUND technology that allowed for instant verification of the J-signature.
The J-signature showed up in the summon, and then dispersed, all over Garden.
$#!t! thought Cid. Then, he recalled an incident earlier. "Scan-op, do the same thing to that lunar incident from earlier."
There it was, the same signature. But this one all but overloaded the sensors. And that could only mean one thing.
He's back! thought Cid. He calmed himself. He needed to wait until they could resolve this before he could panic. Thankfully, there was still the spring in the Church in the ruins of Midgar, but that may have to wait. And being so sick, so soon? Must've been from the power of the Mako blasts.
"Garden? It's Cid here. We have a major problem. That summon creature had alien cells in the Mako used to form it. These are cells from a creature called Jenova. The conclusion is unpleasant. You're now suffering from a disease called Geostigma, although hopefully, it will be some time before it affects you badly. We have a means of curing it, but I've gotta check that the place where it is is still fine." He turned to Scan-op. "Is Midgar still around?"
"We think so. The continent where it was is still there, and there appears to be no new cities around that area."
"Good." Cid turned back to the comms panel. "Garden, we need to head....from here, to the west for a few thousand kilometers, until you come to the ruins of a large city, looks like a wedding cake with a gun sticking out of it. That's Midgar. Follow my lead."

Just then, two figures fell down in frount of Cid. Locke and Terra had taken a powerful attack. In an attempt to save them, Terra had cast Teleport and taken them to this place.
"Where are we?" asked Locke. "This doesn't look like Narshe"
Locke saw unfamiliar faces in frount of him. He'd travelled the entire world yet had never seen this place before.
"Hello there, my name's Locke, the world renowned treasure hunter? Who are you?"

Cid's eyes bugged out of his face. A young woman in a red dress and with greenish blonde hair, and a man dressed in blue and gray clothes had just dropped out of thin air...in the bridge of the Shera!
That one, Locke, called himself a treasure hunter. Reminded himself of Yuffie calling herself a 'materia hunter'.
"Yep, he's a thief." muttered Cid to himself. Out loud, he said "Now, what the %$#@ are you doin' in my ship?"

"Cid? What's going on?" Squall asked into the comm. He felt ill. He wanted to sleep. And his arm ached.
Zell looked at both Squall and Quistis.
"Do you think any of this Geostigma got on Quezacotl?" he asked. "I know it didn't get on me, I had vanished in the Summon."
"Zell, follow Cid's lead, and give me Quezacotl for now. You can take...Ifrit." Squall groaned.
Quistis sighed, her legs sore.
"I'll hand over Shiva as well. Selphie, give Zell Siren, and if Irvine has been affected, he'll have to take Diablos too." she said. "It'd be no use us having them and being unable to use them."
"Rinoa...." Squall ran/stumbled from the bridge. Quistis sighed again, and tried to follow.
"Can I get a wheelchair over here for Miss. Quistis?" Zell yelled. Two wearly looking students appeared, making Zell wish he hadn't yelled. He turned to the Comm.
"Cid, this is Zell Dincht, Squall and the others are sick with the Geostigma, I was lucky, I had vanished in the Summon. Standing by and ready to follow." he said, trying to remain calm.

Balthier watched in barely concealed amazement as the red-robed man began fighting almost seven of the bat-lizard creatures at the same time. He seemed to possess almost inhuman strength and speed. The weaker bat-lizards - "Sinspawn" the man had called them - had the advantage of numbers, but it failed to surpass the skill at which the man wielded his oversized katana. Balthier helped, using his gun to pick off some of the creatures that came too close. Fran shot an arrow through one of the stragglers, then finished it off with a Fire spell.
"Well, that was impressive, to say the least." Balthier said to the man in red as he dispatched the last Sinspawn was defeated and faded into a flurry of lights. "Just who exactly are you?"

"Well, that was impressive, to say the least." Balthier said to the man in red as he dispatched the last Sinspawn was defeated and faded into a flurry of lights. "Just who exactly are you?"
"My name is Auron" he said with a sly smile, amused that such an introduction was once again necessary. With one eye still toward the sky he then added "That is Sin". "It seems that It only wanted to size you up". Sin turned it's head towards the moon, and the back to the group beneath it, it then slowly turned and headed away. "So this is where we part ways" Auron thought to himself. "Sin is accustomed to being the most powerful force on our world, and It will seek out and confront anything that threatens It's power, on this world or any other. That is Sin's story. So tell me, what is your story"?
"Terra was trying to save us from a defeat from a mysterios shadow guy, so she teleported us, and we ended up on your ship. And just for the record, I prefer to be called a treasure hunter."
"Yeah, but why into my ship?"
"I don't know really. Anyway, we might as well tag along. Where are you going?"
Locke had never heard of the bridge of Shera, but he decided to trust the man's advice.
"What's your name by the way"
When Locke heard the name he swore it felt familiar. Yet this was a different Cid to the one he knew.
At that moment, Cid headed to the upper deck to see what was going on.

"My story..." Balthier repeated. "Well, there's not much to say. I'm Balthier, captain of the Strahl, which unfortunately lost its power source when when we were brought here. I'm a sky pirate by trade. My first mate Fran and I were on our way to Dalmasca with some stolen Imperial loot when soemhing jolted our ship. Next thing we know, we're stranded in your world with a malfunctioning magicite drive." He stopped, having finished his story, but then Fran spoke up:
"That monster... the one you called Sin. You said it was from your world, and that it would seek out power in this world. Does this mean you were brought here from another world?"

((Oi, no powerplaying, or I'll quit!))
Cid was a little puzzled by the expression on the thief's face after he heard his name.
Come to think of it, wasn't there a slight bemusement with that girl Quistis' voice when I told her my name? It's not that uncommon a name, right?
"Well, stick around 'treaure hunter'" (Cid lacing the term with a lot of sarcasm) " because we're heading to Midgar."
He quickly went over to comms. "Garden, this is Cid. Sorry I couldn't respond personally. We've picked up a couple of hitch-hikers, called Locke and Terra. They seem more or less harmless enough, but I'm keeping an eye on them. We're flying to Midgar, and doing a brief scan to make sure that the thing I told you about is still there. Cid out."
With that, the Shera took off for Midgar, with the Garden following.
