I would love a reindeer jumper. But it's summer here. Would a reindeer singlet be okay?


Unfortunately we shipped my father in law off to hospital last night, so it looks like Christmas day is going to be spent hospital visiting. Luckily it seems not too serious, he should only be in for a couple of days.

Picturing a family of Moomins roller-skating up and down hospital hallways, singing Swedish Christmas carols at

the top of their lungs, and tossing poinsettias into all the patients' rooms!

And wearing hideous reindeer sweaters, and having mistletoe sprigs tied to their tails, and wearing evergreen

wreaths looped over one ear.

The Christmas carols would be Norwegian, not Swedish.

Some of them prefer skateboards to roller skates.

Preferably wide ones with little handrails.

Sniff is with them, singing out of tune and riding a little pink bicycle.

Are any of the Caroling Hospital-Visiting Moomins wearing one of those Scandinavian Head Wreaths that have lit candles on them?

They allow blue reindeer to gallop through the hospital hallways in Norway?

Maybe only if a Moomin is riding on one?

Do the reindeer sing carols as well, under the circumstances?

I have no idea what the singing-blue-reindeer-carrying-moomins-in-hospitals rules are in Norway. Perhaps Skilpadde could enlighten us.

I think that Skilpadde is busy decorating the family Christmas Tree with brightly-painted Snapping Turtle Eggs.

When they hatch right after Christmas Dinner, what a surprise will be in store for everyone who tries to pet the baby turtles!

Nah, Norway's quite progressive. Only a nanny state would dictate the colour of reindeers or what carols they may sing.

In fact, they may well encourage blue reindeer as creative and a nice change from mainstream thinking.

Oh, that tortoise tree is adorable!
