clarinetists-
pete fountain
or
benny goodman?

Benny Goodman. He was the more rounded clarinetist, comfortable both in jazz as well as classical.

As for current clarinet manufacturers,

Buffet, Selmer, LeBlanc, or Yamaha?
(Aunt Blabby, you already know how I detest LeBlanc, after playing the paper clip. I'm still kicking myself for selling my classic Buffet R-13)

I would LOVE to hear more about your experience playing the paperclip contra, I have always loved those sepulchral bass tones down in contrabassoon range. anyways, I am not an experienced musician like you so I would have to guess that to my ears they all sound similar.

which do you like better-
the BBb contrabass tubax
or
the BBb contrabass clarinet?

First off, I was never a fan of LeBlanc instruments, except for maybe the Maury Backun-designed instruments and the Robert Bliss designed horns. LeBlancs always sounded too dark for my tastes.

As fr the paper clip, that damn thing, when I was working for my teacher's certification in Music Education at Millersville University of PA, was always in the shop. The keywork was more temperamental than a Loree Oboe. When it was playable, the intonation was as bad as my Buffet R-13 soprano clarinet. Buffets, if you ever played one, have the sweetest sound you can get. The bad thing with Buffet, is they have intonation problems out the ying-yang, due to the design of the bore (it's a rather large, polycylandrical bore).

That damn paper clip, in short, was an exercise in futility. I'd rather play Selmer's E-flat ContraAlto, which was a lot easier to play.

Nowadays, I'd refer the Tubax.

I don't really know anything about organs, but the first one seems to have more options of things to enhance the sound; plus, it sorta has an antique look----whereas the second one looked more modern----and, if given a choice, I'll always go with "antique". If it is a pipe organ, that's even better!!

As for Meistersinger's question: "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet".

If, for instance, "Foreigner" is considered "Hard Rock", then I pick that one.

Well, I like them both----but, I definitely like "Old Country", better; because that's Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Barbara Mandrell, Johnny Cash, Charlie Rich ("The Silver Fox"), etc.

PLAYING sports, NO. WATCHING sports, yes----mostly, football (can't WAIT, for the Superbowl), Gymnastics, Horse-racing (If that's considered a sport----LOVE horses----"The Triple Crown", and Dressage.), and Figure Skating; LOVE the Olympics (Apollo Ohno, and Michael Phelps were particularly exciting to watch----and, Lyndsey Vauhn----and, that female Beach Volleyball Player, who played one year, while pregnant [can't think of her name, right now]----VERY cool.)! !
