mbari, n.

[< Swahili mbari (m = the nasal component of the initial consonant).
The word may have entered central Swahili (of the Mombasa area) from a neighbouring Nyika language, i.e. Giryama. In northern Swahili the word is not used, nyumba or mlango being employed.]
