Look at it this way, the DJ was one of the few people who liked Peri, but didn't want to molest her. I mean, there was Sharaz Jek, Sil, Shockeye (to be fair, though, Shockeye only wanted to eat her), the Borad, Queen Katryca (well, she wanted her married off), Lord Kiv, and King Yrcanos.
Anyway, Davros wasn't the one who hired the DJ. I'd say that it was more likely Takis, as Lilt probably isn't into it, ditto for Tasambeker, and Jobel probably thinks he's a rival for female attenion.

Still, you've never read Robert Holmes' novelisation of The Two Doctors? Holmes has a pretty dark sense of humour. I still have a copy of The Two Doctors novel, so I'll just read an extract from that sequence:
Although she knew there was no hope, Peri made a feeble attempt to duck under his arm but he caught her in a grip that could have hoisted car-bodies off a production line. With his other hand, he gave her a playful cuff over the head and kocked her senseless.
Swinging the limp, luscious body over his shoulder, Shockeye turned and retraced his steps. They would feast tonight, if they ever had. The rump under his hand felt exquisitely tender. The prime cut, he thought. He would bone and roll the saddle, with an appropriate stuffing. With the hindlegs and forelegs he would make a stew. Or serve them braised. The head, skinned and split into quarters, together with the offal, could be rendered down for stock. Or even a savoury soup with noodles.
There were really no limits, he thought blithely, to the possibilities available with a fine beast such as this. Of course, given the choice, he would have preferred a jack. There was generally less fat on a jack. However, this little jill was in perfect condition and he had no doubt that he could turn it into such a meal that even Chessene o' the Franzine Grig would be forced to admit her hereticism.
A 'jack' is presumably an Androgum term for a Tellurian (human) man, and a 'jill', of course, a female.

Actually, lemme see, there's probably (in the TV series, at least) lots more companions who have been abducted. Jo Grant, for instance. Barbara Wright, Zoe, Sarah Jane, Romana, Nyssa, Tegan, need I go on?

Do the companions get hazard pay?
Well, in the Doctor Who novel Shadowmind, Ace and Bernice Summerfield are said to have a 100,000 credit limit each. And, of course, in The Long Game, the Doctor modifies a moneypen to have unlimited credit and gives it (with devastating consequences) to Adam Mitchell, although the Doctor probably got it legally. He had deposited money in a bank called Cholmondeley's, and in the book Players, he and Peri actually get to splurge a lot of money, albeit to get themselves noticed by high-society in pre-WW2 Britain. Long story. It involves Winston Churchill and a group of beings playing games with human history.
