While Moomins are excellent sailors....

...Moomin fans prefer their feet very firmly on the ground.

Well I guess not all Superman fans want to fly themselves... especially if they have fear of flying or or heights...nor do Hulk fans want to wake up one day and resemble a great block of carved jade...

Better than a few days ago, when all I got was a cloudflare message which kept refreshing and never brought me here.

It's almost enough to drive me away even when I have friends here. It must be hopeless for new members.

Love the Moomin pictures enviro! :D

Can you download Firefox on that tablet?

If so, an add-on called NoScript will stop Cloudflare and make the site more usable. :D

Be warned though, there will be a reverse "honeymoon" period where you have to train NoScript to allow your other websites full access to your tablet.

I think it's worth it though. Certainly would be to have you around. 8)

Yay, you're back again! :D

Nice image. Boating can be very nice. I'd prefer calmer seas though!

^Thanks Skilpadde. :)

Actually my husband has a boat. I tried for a long time to like it. Sometimes it's okay, but I find the noise, unpredictability of the wave movement, and the change of routine hard to deal with. I haven't been out on it in a long time.

Norwegian is due to be released on Duolingo in the next few weeks; I'm definitely going to check it out. I've decided I don't really have time to study it at the moment though. I am too busy with my other languages.

A Finnish friend lent me her library card details so I can download ebooks from her library account. I am reading my first ever Finnish book (a picture book with just four lines per page) which is pretty exciting for me. 8)

Was that a genuine picture by Tove Janssen?

Oh. Those things have never bothered me about boats. I used to wish I had a boat, but having a boat space is incredibly expensive and hard to get around here. I took a course called Boat and Sea in junior high and we had some practical boating, once on a small ferry. My fave part was standing on deck alone, watching the sea and follow the wave movements...

I've never been on a boat before, but I've been on a jet-ski. It was absolutely terrifying.

But that's a really cool class to have in junior high! Do you live near the ocean by any chance?

Nice! It feels so cool when you can actually start to read stuff in another language. I remember when I watched something in Spanish for the first time, (probably a cartoon, lol) I felt like the bomb. :D

Hi Sylkat - yes it is. I much prefer the old Tove Janssen pictures to the newer cartoonish ones. :)

Thanks Skilpadde and Lillikoi, I'm feeling pretty proud of myself with the Finnish reading. I emailed the Krab in my excitement, but I haven't heard back from him yet. :(

@ Skilpadde (sorry, still having problems with the quote function). We are lucky here in NZ. While I wouldn't go so far as to say boats are cheap, as long as you are not trying to keep it in central Auckland, the costs are not too bad.

Moomingirl, I'm glad you are able to log in and post again.
The crab needs to get a move on and see how far you've come.

He should be out of hibernation by now. Seriously Moomin, do you know if he's coming back any time soon?

I agree about the original images too. They're so much nicer and warmer!

I've never been on a jet-ski, and quite frankly I'm not eager to try. Is it as hard to do as it looks?

Yes, I live in the capital of Norway, which is situated by a fjord (Oslofjorden). So we had easy access to the ocean for our practical boating lessons.
And yes, it was a very cool class! I liked it a lot :D

I currently get taken to my profile page once when I try to reply, but I just press the 'back' button and then next time I press 'Post reply' I get taken to the screen where I can type my reply. It's not ideal and I still can't quote, but it is better than it has been.

Krabo knows exactly how (slowly) my Finnish is going. He did say a while ago that he would be back in the late summer /autumn, but he's not exactly chatty about these things. I'm not sure if that information is still current. I will tell him that people are asking about him, next time I talk to him. I don't like to bother him too much. I am very thankful I am at least in contact with him though. I do worry when he disappears. It's not the same here either, without his sense of humour adding to the gang spirit.

Skilpadde, the pictures I have seen of Norway look so beautiful. Any time you want to post any on my thread please feel free. :D

Yikes. I hope the bugs will be straightened out soon.

Thanks for the update. No, don't bother him too much. Whatever the reason he's not here, he's not gonna like being asked a lot, no aspie likes that. It might scare him off instead. I didn't mean to nag, I just wondered, since I do worry when he's not here for a long time. I miss him.

*grin* okay

Some pictures from an old mill where we sometimes walked our collie Viggo.

old stairs right by the water fall. I really like these moss-grown stone steps. I have no idea where they led when they were in use.

Close to the water fall. The bridge mirrored in the water.

The place even has its own page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lysakerelven

Those are lovely, Skilpadde! You must have gotten up early this morning!

Me too because I was using night shift data and also because I have a bit of an interest in election statistics (not politics per se,) was checking out some of the UK election results. One of my "odd" interests that would puzzle most people.

Thanks Skilpadde, those are beautiful. There is something about old, abandoned places that I just love.

Don't worry, I didn't think you were nagging about Krabo. I miss him too. But I don't want him to think that I am bothering him. I'll let you know whenever I have any news. :)

Enviro, I think we all have some 'odd' interests. I hear about a lot of Aspie's special interests, and although many don't appeal to me, I don't think I've ever found any truly 'puzzling'. We're all different.

Ugh, typing is hard, I have my Finnish keyboard loaded. It nearly looked like this: Saööö digfeent.

I have the extra letters ä and ö, plus å (presumably in case I spontaneously break into Swedish :P ), so all the keys are a little bit smaller than normal and nothing is quite where it is supposed to be. I can't decide if it is worse to keep switching between the two, or just get used to the slightly smaller keys.

By the way Skilpadde, do you use Å in Norwegian?

Thanks! :)

No, I wasn't, I just used pictures I/we had taken on a walk with Viggo years ago. I haven’t been there since the fall of 2008, when I walked a friend of Viggo, a Jack Russell named Tequila, there.

Hmm… I have to agree with Moomingirl here. I have seen plenty of interests mentioned here that I don’t share, but only one that I actually found odd. Statistics isn’t an odd interest to me.

Moomingirl, I'll be back with a reply to you too, but right now it's time to make dinner. Later! :)
