Now that was a poetical way to say "let the next person win."

I amost didn't recognise Murihiku up there. I've never seen him change his avatar before. 8O

Sure you have, Mooms. Remember that purple ferns one I used to have? I had a gingerbread one before then, too.

As for the current one, it's from one of the hundreds of designs submitted so far for the upcoming NZ flag referendum. I haven't seen all of them yet, but so far I quite like this one personally (link).

It's a bit of an issue of mine Murihiku, I tend to forget things once they are gone. Now you mention it I do remember the ferns.

You have to admit though, you are not a regular avatar changer. :D I don't remember the gingerbread one though.

This one's okay. I like simplicity, so I kind of like the idea of a sliver fern on a black background. I'm not bothered particularly either way.

Yeah, you're right. I tend not to change my avatar (or signature) often. Mostly out of laziness, or sometimes even when I want to change either of them I can't decide on one I like.

I like the silver fern on a black background, too (I'm a Kiwi, I have no choice :P ). But for a flag, I'd prefer something a little more colourful. It's not a strong preference though, and I'd still be happy with the silver fern, or even the flag NZ has now.

Is your new flag one of these proposals?

Lol, I've seen that Laser Kiwi one among all the different submissions. I swear, some of them are straight up trolling. I even saw a Nyan Kiwi flag in there. :P In any case, all the submissions can be seen here.

But I'm guessing that around 5-or-so options will be chosen for the first referendum later this year, to pick a preferred new design. The second referendum is next year, to determine whether the winning submission will actually replace the current flag. Personally, I would have done it the other way around. Not that it probably matters, because several recent opinion polls in NZ show clear majorities against changing the current flag.

Interesting link. Some of them are really good. -- One's own flag is something you always recognize, no matter where you see it. However, I'm not totally satisfied with ours because it tends to fade into the background. Stronger colors would be better, like those on the German or Belgian flags. This is, of course, a cultural question.

At times you lose, of course. That's why we have the losers' thread. 8)
