^ Those were great. (Thanks for fixing that link for me, Skilpadde, I'm not sure what happened there).

Sylkat, the gate was somewhere in Poland, that's all I know.

Here you can buy a whole abandoned town (if you happen to have $2million handy): http://www.messynessychic.com/2014/10/2 ... dy-wanted/

And here's a Russian version of a ghost town which is being used in a movie:

I really enjoy these things so much... Anyone have more? (Please!)

Here are 5 ghost towns:

Here's a nice look at another exciting place: Nan Madol

Wow, the first ghost town, Centralia, is an amazing (if sad) story.

Keyaköy in Turkey. The area was abandoned after an agreement between the Turkish and Greek governments (something related to the religion of the people living there, I believe)

What a shame. It looks like so much time and effort went into making such a nice place.

Indeed.

Here's Ohura in NZ. Not quite a ghost town (approx 110 people still live there) but you can practically see tumbleweed on the streets. The council was trying to sell houses down there a couple of years ago, and they were going for ridiculous money - just a few months' wages. But you didn't know if there would be huge backlog of rates owed, and it is incredibly depressed there.

More Nan Madol pictures please?

One of my special interests a year or so ago.

Fascinating culture, and no one knows how they moved those enormous basalt 'logs'.....a famous, unexplained

engineering accomplishment by 'primitive' people.

So far, I don't think that the UFO theorists have stated that the Space Brothers did the work with their Mother Ship's Tractor Beam.

This is the Tunnel of Love, somewhere in Ukraine. Note the abandoned railroad track.

Wow, I had an obsession on Nan Madol some years ago. It's a very fascinating place. Just for you, Sylkat :)

When I was little my dad used to take us for walks along abandoned rail tracks. This one is beautiful.

Edit:

Krabo? 8O

Actually, the Finnish alphabet is clumsier than that. We don't distinguish between V and W, they are lumped together and this can cause you trouble with word lists. Also, we identify the German Ü with Y because they are pronounced the same way -- the Germans identify Ü with U.

I have Krab withdrawal, a doppelgänger is close enough.

Hope everyone is well in their respective countries. Winter is starting to creep up on us here, I'm just about to start a fire.
