We used to have coins called skillinger here in Norway. One skilling was 1/ 120 spesidaler in the currency system from 1816 to 1875, and it was 1/96 riksbankdaler in the currency system from 1813 to 1816, and finally 1/96 riksdaler-species in the currency system from 1544 to 1813.
In 1875 one skilling equaled ca 3,3 øre. In 2006 1 skilling would equal ca. 1,50 NOK.
These were the values they had: 48 skilling, 24 skilling, 16 skilling, 12 skilling, 8 skilling, 4 skilling, 2 skilling, skilling, 1/2 skilling.
Killing means the offspring of a goat in Norwegian, while kylling is chicken.
