Sylkat, may I ask if there is any particular story behind your choice of username?

I was wondering the same. :)

Oh, so that is why D.J. Kat Show on Sky Channel (late 1980's) was spelled that way! I still remember that tune of his
"a d and a j
and a kat with a k"

Nostalgia lead me to to check if it was on YouTube. Anyone else remember this guy?

Here he would be D. J. Katt

Sky Channel was a touch of magic in the 1980's. At the time we had one Norwegian channel (NRK), and Swedish SVT. In the mid 80's we got a taste of the exciting world of the rest of Europe. Sky Channel was a British channel that was aired here, it was the first satellite channel to do so here, and it brought with it the exciting world (to us at the time) of TV commercials. We didn't have them here, and because I watched children's shows (Fun Factory Show and DJ Kat), I saw a lot of commercials for toys, chocolates and and milk chocolate brands I'd never seen here. It was very exciting for a child in elementary school. The commercials were as much entertainment for us back then as the shows were.
Even such boring things as ads for detergents (Dash 3 and Didi 7) were exciting. Needless to say, I haven't seen a commercial for years. Now they're just the annoying things between shows. But being new and me being very young, it was very different then.
I remember singing what I understood of the Sky Channel song, or the To You song as I called it.

It was also exciting to watch the new phones that were shaped like fruits and footballs and more, unlike the good old light grey rotary dial phones we had. Sky channel was such a dream for us. I recently got a book called childhood 1980's, and it was about the things that were popular here then. Sky and a lot of other goodies were mentioned. Feeling nostalgic now (as usual lol).

One of the commercials I remember best is the one starting at 0:17
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2OkUQo8nnA
I remember so well the tag line 'Zugly isn't ugly he's hugly'. I thought hugly meant hyggelig (nice).

Didi 7 sounds like a robot.

Perhaps the Didis 1-6 were badly-behaved and chased family pets instead of doing the housework, as they were designed to do.

Sigh.

Send him a message requesting him to recruit for the Super-Zakhyrian Army.

Tell him Zandrian wants to accompany him on a secret mission!

We want Krabo!

Probably hiding under a rock somewhere.

I shall send him a holiday message whether he likes it or not. :P

Now picturing Santa in scuba gear delivering Krabo's cards and gifts to him in a grotto which is accessible only underwater.

That kind of thing would certainly slow down the delivery schedule.

Perhaps Santa sends his elves to do the underwater deliveries.

How do underwater dwellers light their Christmas Trees, by the way?

If Gollum wasn't so stingy, Santa could have sent him to do the delivery. He's a good diver.

But he'd be clutching the prezzies with his long fingers and muttering My Precious all the time, which would be most disturbing to some marine residents who would call the Board of Trustees and report the matter to Neptune.

Dear Sylkat, they use phosphorescence: there's quite a lot of that in the ocean...

Now I am picturing Santa climbing into a chimney...

When he is out of sight, Gollum creeps out from behind it, where he has been lurking.

He hops into the sleigh and flies off with everyone's presents, cackling, and squawking 'My preciouses!' As loudly as he can.

Thank you for that image, and Merry Christmas!

Sylkat, I'm sure if Gollum tried to steal Santa's sleigh Rudolph would give him a big kick off the roof. :P
