Laura raised an eyebrow. "So this thing just fails at making that um, methane last?" She shrugged. Riku looked at Mike, and the rest of the group, confused. He had heard other people outside his Pokeball, but darn!

Mike almost seems offended by the question. "Actually this ship is quite efficient as rockets go, it's just that getting into orbit is very hard. We will be going hundreds of kilometers up and we will travel at about 30 kilometers per second which isn't easy to do." he explains.

As the guards take Mason into an elevator leading up to the central docking port where the enemy carrier is docked, Mason works on picking the locks on the handcuffs. Their locks are rather simple to pick with a paper clip, and he always carries a few with him which is something he learned from Mike. Once his hands are free he makes his move by tackling the guards, and since he has had some martial arts training it works out pretty well. He takes the jacket, hat, ID badge, and gun from one of the guards and makes the elevator go to one of the two reactors that are still operational after the previous battle.

The martial arts thing is not just a cheap way to get him out of that situation. That character is mostly based off of one of my friends and he is into martial arts. Also, I sometimes carry around paper clips IRL because they are just so useful and Mike is the character most directly based off of me.

"The sea serpent will come when I call her. You will not have to worry about distance." Enye explained, but her voice seemed oddly flat and she was still fastidiously not looking at the ghost kitten.
Suddenly, the winged kitten changed shape and became a young girl with long white hair, multi-coloured eyes, and a confused expression on her face. She stepped right up to Enye and put her hands out, as if she wanted to play Patty Cake. Eyne flinched subtly, but at last she stretched out her arms to put her hands against the girl's. Enye's hands abruptly stopped as if they had hit an invisible wall, and so did the girl's, and it was clear that there was some force at work preventing them from touching.

Guinan listened to most of this with a neutral expression, though she again showed some surprise as the girl appeared. "You seem to know her," Guinan said to Enye.

(OOC: Is this the same raven girl from the alternate Enterprise that was searching for Enye before? Or are she and the ghost kitten two different people?

Mikeman, how did Mason get the paperclip while his hands were cuffed? I like the paperclip, and it's reasonable that Mason would have martial arts training. It'd be tough to get at it though, and if he did, not let it slip through his fingers. Maybe there was something wrong with the cuffs or maybe Mason tore his hand from the cuffs? I've read that escape before: painful but sometimes effective.)

[The raven girl is Enye's sister, who in my story is now Onelle the swan maiden, but that doesn't matter. The kitty girl...well, you'll see who she is soon enough! ]

"I cannot break through." Enye mumbled listlessly, but the girl tilted her head and looked puzzled, as if she couldn't hear because they were separated by glass. Her form shimmered insubstantially, as if the strain of pressing her hands against the barrier was too much.

"S-Sorry." Laura squeaked, shuffling back to where she was sitting, seeming somewhat embarrased at her choice of words.

Enye seemed unable to speak for some reason, but her fingers scratched at the barrier as if attempting to rip it to pieces, but the kitty girl faded away anyway. "I was saving her cake..." Enye mumbled absently, as if entirely distant. "I've been trying to break that barrier for so long now..."

"Er.. why can't you speak to her?" Lilli asked.

That seemed awful, to be able to see someone and not be able to talk to them. They thought of Teach and Ishishi and Noshishi, and wondered what it would be like if they were never able to speak to each other again.

That's horrible... Lilli thought.

They wondered what might have caused it, and how Enye might have known her.
Was she a family member?
Or perhaps a friend..

Laura gasped, waving her arms around in an epiphany. "Gumball! Calem! Gumball is a Meowstic, so he might be able to break the barrier. It does say in the 'dex entry that it's the barrier Pokemon, after all!

Enye stared at Laura, a wild, impossible hope glowing in her eyes. "Really? Truly?" She asked, her voice sounding cracked or broken. "Could you try? The next time Aelkai comes, could you try? We will have to be ready, since her appearances have always been random."

"That's a good idea," Guinan said to Laura, a calm smile on her face for a moment. Her expression turned more sober though as she looked back at Mike and wondered what they would need to do, what they should do.

Calem sighed, as everyone's eyes darted to him. "I geuss I could let him hive it a shot..." He said, letting him out of his Poke ball again. "Yay!" Laura cheered, running up to hug him briefly.

The blue and white cat sensed something nearby "Mrooowwwstickk!" He cried, running towards Eyne, Smiling and looking at her in a comforting way.

Mike watched everything happen with confusion. I really should be used to crazy stuff like this happening here by now... He decides to stay out of it and watch form a distance while he gives Mason an update on the situation.

Mason began thinking about what he would do in this situation if he were in charge of the station and if an intruder were in his position. I would probably try to figure out where the elevator is going and have guards waiting there, then I would cut power to the elevator once he got there so they couldn't go somewhere else in it. He was going to reactor 1 because shutting it down could cause a pretty big distraction, but if the fleet commander were anything like him then they would have a trap set for him. He needed another idea, and just then his communication device notified him that he had a new message from Mike.

"There have been some developments. Apparently there is a lot of quantum spacial turbulence near here caused by someone else experimenting with wormholes and because of this I am not the only traveler here. One of them has offered to help and they said something about summoning a large sea serpent in space, it's a long shot but we may be able to help after all. Is there any chase that you could open the wormhole?"

The elevator's destination was changed to go to a floor near one of the wormhole chambers. He didn't choose the exact floor that they were on to try to throw off the invaders, he would have to use the stairs to go the remaining 2 floors down to his destination.

I'll just say that the paperclips were in one of his back pockets, because that would be a good place to have them and they would be easy to retrieve with handcuffs on. Also, knowing Mason's character putting them there could be a strategic move just in case of that exact scenario. I actually didn't think of this at all when writing that last post.

Gumball looked pretty confused. He could sense a barrier somewhere, but where was it? He couldn't just Psywave everything in the immediate area dead, because they were inside the ship.

"Mrrroww!" He looked at Eyne. Calem laughed slightly. "I think he wants to know where it is." He explained.

Enye smiled humorlessly. "The barrier is inside of me. It's...a long story, but this barrier came about entirely by accident, and from then on it is as if Aelkai and I have been stuck in separate dimensions. But I am pretty sure I could take a Psychic attack to the face if need be."

[Aelkai = Ayel-keye (kai as in eye, not ay)

Meanwhile Gristle was just getting up.

"Ugh... what time is it?"

He squinted out the window. It was broad daylight.
"Egh." His eyes hurt.

He looked around and saw Enye, Laura, and the others gathered in the aisle.
"Mornin'..." He waved.

Lilli and the others looked at him.

"Uhmm.. it's afternoon, man." Lilli said.
