(I'm referring to "The Crucible" which is a play based on the Salem Witch Trials. Long story short, in the play, a bunch of Puritan girls are caught dancing, two of them "fall ill", everyone thinks witches are doing it, and they start hauling off and hanging people. If you confess you are "saved" - a bit of jail, but no hanging. If you deny it, you're a witch and you hang. The motives for accusing witches started to become nastier - greed, jealously, ect. Lots of people die. The whole thing was faked by the dancing bunch.)

Yeah, I had to read that last year. Except my English teacher was also the Drama teacher so she made us do it like a play. I had to be the minister guy (I forget the name.)

Parris or Hale, perhaps?

We read it out loud too, although we thankfully didn't move around. I was Danforth (ie, the evil/over-enthused judge) for the second half, and Rebecca Nurse for the first scene. Of course, it was hard to take it seriously, since our period is made up of a lot of class clowns. Cheever (the warden) sounded like a muppet, Mercy Lewis had the deepest and slowest voice ever for a "female," and Reverend Hale's voice was all over the spectrum, both in pitch and volume. There were other weird things we did, but thankfully my teacher is cool about those things. She didn't really care.

Did you watch the movie too?

I am confused by the content of this thread, which is surprisingly not exclusively posts saying, "I am confused..."
