^ I might have to look for that one. It's a shame that European stuff is so hard to find and expensive here.

Want one.

In lavender, I think, possibly with a magenta tail tuft.

Perhaps including a genuine diamond/platinum tiara and opera gloves?

Opera gloves?

With the cookbook, I'd rather recommend oven gloves.

Wantwantwant!

Moomin cookbook is available here for $35, which actually isn't too horrendous a price for a cookbook, but possibly a bit steep for me, especially as I am not exactly renowned for my culinary skills. Maybe I'll see how much I earn this month and treat myself.

I sometimes wish I was back in the UK, where Moomins are not unheard of, and there would be at least a chance of running across some of these things in charity shops. Here I have 'Moomin' saved as a favourite search on TradeMe (like a NZ version of Ebay) and when I can be bothered I search for 'hippo' in case there is someone selling something who doesn't realise what a Moomin is. Surely some stuff would have come out from Europe and be in circulation.

I think next time I go back to the UK I'll save up and go on a Moomin shopping trip. Maybe I could even make a special trip to Finland. :)

What would a Moomin cake look like?

Moomin often does things like that. The Groke is supposed to be scary, but he feels rather sorry for her.

What a shame we are finally on WP at the same time Sylkat, and I have to rush off to work. Hope to see you again soon. :)

Edit - ooh, found this:

Well, the Moomin shop sells it. They have the cook book too, for £ 13 (well, 12,99  ) and Amazon UK has it for £ 12, 08. I have no idea if that is less or more than NZ dollars.
I have no idea if the Moomin shop is legit though, so be careful.

I'm surprised to see how much Moomin stuff is available in English. I didn't know they were published outside of the Nordic countries.

Which is what? Here the main character is called Mummitrollet, so it appears the translator assumes them to be trolls.

That sounds like a splendid idea! If you ever go there, you will probably wanna stop by the theme park. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moomin_World

The original Swedish name is Mumintrollet, so it is not a matter of translation.

I didn't know that. They are trolls then. Good to know. Thanks, Krabo.

The price at Amazon is better, but freight usually works out very expensive to get it here. It's frustrating when I see great second hand stuff there really cheap, but the freight makes it no good. It would help if I wasn't so frugal! :P

Moomins were quite big in the UK when I was a kid. I believe they were popular in Japan too, but nobody from NZ or the US has heard of them. I search for 'hippo' because that's what most people think it is, if they haven't heard of the Moomins.

The modern animations are made in Japan.
