Harry Houdini and his wife Bess were dear friends with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his wife, Jean.


On a visit to America in the 1920's, Jean Doyle suggested a seance, as she and Sir Arthur were sincere Spiritualists, and Houdini wanted very much to contact his beloved, late mother.

Jean was an 'Automatic Writer', a type of medium who writes or draws while contacted by or under the influence of a spirit.

She wrote fifteen pages, from Houdini's mother, to him.

Houdini was quite polite, they were close friends and he did not wish to offend or embarrass them, but later told Sir Arthur that he did not believe that the writings were from his mother.

First, not one word mentioned that that day was her birthday.

Secondly, the pages were written in English, a language which she never had learned.

Sir Arthur did believe that the writings were from her, and unfortunately, his and Houdini's friendship was never the same.

Eric Clapton fell madly in love with George Harrison's wife, Pattie ((Boyd).

George and Eric were best friends,were always at each other's houses, and Eric was always trying to convince Pattie that he was serious about her.

She continually said 'No thank you', and did not tell George; this was his best friend, and Eric would get over her.

He did not.

He wound up in a three-year morass of alcohol and drugs, winding up addicted to heroin, blaming it all on her rejection.

He pulled himself together just as George got heavier into drugs than the relatively light dabbling that they all had been doing.


George had also had a series of affairs or one-nighters, and Pattie finally had enough, and left, filed for divorce.

Two years later, she and Eric Clapton were married...he wrote Wonderful' and 'Layla' for her.

And 'Layla' is one of my very favorite songs in the world!

The great Bob 'The Bear' Hite, singer of the band Canned Heat died from snorting what he thought was cocaine......it was actually a vial of heroin which a fan had handed to him, not telling him what it was.

Though they were one of the best and most popular bands of their time, no information exists of his cremation or burial or funeral......nothing!

In the early 1960's, a young author/reporter named Thomas Harris went to a Mexican prison, Topo Chico to interview a prisoner who had committed a triple murder.

In an escape attempt, the prisoner was shot, and a doctor in the prison, Dr. Alfredo Balli Trevino, treated him, saving his life.

Harris discovered that Trevino was not the prison doctor, but an inmate.

He became more interested in the doctor than the inmate that he was assigned to.

Trevino was convicted of killing a man, his lover, actually, cutting him into very, very small pieces, using his medical skills and instruments, then fitting everything into one box and burying it in a field.

He was caught, convicted, served twenty years, and was released.

He died in 2009.

In a way, however, he lives on....

On the twenty-fifth anniversary of the publication of 'Silence of the Lambs', Harris revealed that
