"Hehe! If you think that she's powerful, then you should meet my Mewtwo~ But Hatsune here is all the way to Lv. 100, and is on the original team that helped me win the Kalos Leauge!☆" she squealled, feeding her a pokepuff, wich she happily devoured.

"Oh Mrs... Laura's mom? Are these for us--" They said, stuffing a rather strange-looking cupcake in their mouth.

For some reason Laura's mother just laughed.

Well, all right, must be fair game then.They picked a pink one and shoved it into their mouth.

Gulp.
Holy. Smokes. They tasted like fruit!
Lilli grabbed several and ran outside.

"Yo, guys, I brought you some snacks--"

Their mouth fell open.
"Oh my god. It's a rainbow DNA moose."

(ooc) Actually the nickname of my Xerneas. (/ooc)

"Moose? That's a dessert." They diddnt have animals in that world, so he has never heard of a moose. "Hey, let me showyou everybody else!" She threw five other pokeballs, revealling a Sylveon, a Jolteon, Vaporeon, the bird from before, and a human-ish pokemon with a braclet like Laura's and a spike on his chest. She looked back a them, waiting for their reaction, smiling.

"Wow, you have a lot of creatures with you. What are they, your pets? Oh, and while people are showing off..." Mike's robotic left arm starts vibrating in a strange way and a small rock floats up and levitates above his hand. "Acoustic levitation, it's pretty awesome."

"Whoa, man!
...I'vegot somethin' cool, but not as cool as that."
They fumbled around for a second.

After a second they produced a blue cell phone. "Here it is!"

They showed it off like an excited salesman, scrolling through each of the individual features.
"It's got games, messaging, e-mail... and a camera! Wanna see?"

"Like I said before, people in this world pit their Pokemon against each other. I won the Leauge in this region, TWICE!! And, well you could say they're pets, but being nice to them makes them stronger. And who doesnt love that face?" She said, giving Hatsune a hug. "Whoah! That rock is just floating on its own? Nice!" Laura looked at Lilli's phone, raising an eyebrow. "I have this thing called a HoloCaster2 that could top that. Its a phone and a Pokedex!"

"Oh yeah, you did mention something about that. Seems like an impressive team you got there." Mike makes the rock fall back down to the ground.

Sam makes the screen on his left eye display a scrolling list, but stops when Mike gives him a disapproving look, then Mike turns to Lilli and says "Didn't you say you got here by some kind of... Spell? Can that sort of thing do something other then mess with spacial geometry?"

" Hoo, boy." they sighed. "Welp, I'll just tell you everything I know.
Yeah, it can do a lot of things. It can make plants grow, create fire, make things levitate... and that's just what I've seen. There's apparently a lot more powerful stuff beyond that.

From what I know, a "spell" is just a cue-- what summons the magic to happen.

And it's not just a thing people manipulate; magic actually lives within things. In the Magic Country, the plants and creatures there were literally all magical. Even the rocks were magical. I don't know how or why, but the land there seems to be imbued with magic.

Now one can use magic outside of the Magic Country-- but magic flora and fauna can only be grown within the Magic Country.
I think-- and this is just a theory-- but I believe that when it's absorbed by an object, magic gives it different properties. That's why a "magical tree" looks so different from a normal tree. And perhaps they depend on magic to survive- which would explain why they don't live anywhere else.

Magic is everywhere, but perhaps the Magic Country is just where it has the highest concentration? Magic is an essence, I know that...
And maybe magic exists everywhere, but it can only alter its surroundings if it exists at a certain level? That would explain why most places look normal, but the Magic Country is so...different.

A second passed in silence.

Lilli sighed.
"Look," they said. "I've never studied magic. I'm not a wizard, I'm not from
the freaking Magic Country, I'm from normal Japan, and I don't know why I was transported here."

"But y'know what I do know?"
They looked at Mike, their expression now grim.
"... I need to get home, and I don't know how."

Laura read over the subtitles projected before her, and looked at Lilli, a sympathetic look on her face. She closed her eyes, concentrating really hard. She did know a little bit of English, and she mustered every word she knew. "Oui, I can understand. I would say I'll help you, but I don't have any idea how." Laura sighed, hoping she got all of that right.

Mike has an amazed expression. "Sounds like an interesting place, I would love to wave around some scientific equipment at it."

He starts thinking a bit and he does a few calculations on his robotic arm. "This might be sort of explained by a high energy zero point field... Oh, but that would require the cosmological constant to be lower and that would make it not a constant... It might be the inflaton field... That's highly unstable though and it has a tendency to explode... Yeah, I'm stumped. It's most likely a currently unknown field-particle combination, but I have no way to know right now."

I don't plan on having Mike actually discover the secret behind Lilli's magic, although he will try. That kind of knowlage would sort of ruin my science fiction universe and make it too much like Star Wars with space ships and something simelar to the force coexisting.

Laura gasped. "There's this guy named Professor Sycamore that knows pretty much everything! Lets go see him..*yawn* tomorrow.." She was talking normal again, and seemed kind of sleepy.

"He sounds just like my type of person, I can't wait to talk to him. Anyway, do you have anywhere for me to sleep? If not I could warp in a poptent or just spend the night in the Nexus wormhole station. I have been looking for an excuse to open a hole in space-time for a few hours now, it's really awesome."

Suddenly Lilli's face lit up.
"Wait!"
"You said that's how you got here, right?
Do you think... you could use that same thing to get me back home?"

"Heheh.. If you wanna open it that bad then go ahead! But you could just sleep on the sofa in the living room." She smiled sweetly.

"OK, I guess I'll sleep on the sofa then. I sort of do need an excuse if I want to open the wormhole because they take a lot of power that can usually be put to better use elsewhere."

Mike turns to Lilli and speaks English. "And Lilli, the wormhole technology that got me here has some limitations you should know about. There are two ways to generate wormholes that we know about: one is to create both sides of it in the same place and take each side to it's destination the old fashioned way which doesn't require much power, the second way uses a breach device which makes the other side of the wormhole appear in a random place, time, and dimension which is how I got here. If I loose this wormhole I have with me now then I will never be able to return, and the technology to target wormholes does not exist, at least right now."

Their face went blank. "Oh. I see."

They didn't speak, but as Mike was walking in, they said:

"Well.. I don't have the book, but I did take a picture...
Could I show you tomorrow?"
