My AS son is really into Warcraft III, and kind of addicted to it, in a "special interest" way. It's rated "teen", which, in my opinion is a bit too violent. However, he got into it because my husband was playing Starcraft, and our son thought it looked interesting---so he was kind of eased into it, and next thing you know, he was really into it. And then Warcraft.

World of Warcraft is not an option, because I don't want him doing that kind of stuff. (Except he does want to see how the storyline of Warcraft III plays out, and apparently you need to do WoW to find that out. He's pretty upset about that.)

He doesn't like the violence and bad language of Warcraft, but he loves the rest of it. He keeps saying he wished there was something similar, which wasn't a baby game, but also doesn't have the violence and bad language.

Is there anything out there like that? A game which is at a reasonably "teen-adult" level, as far as game mechanics and level of difficulty, but without people being hacked to bits, women being demeaned, and foul language?

(We have Windows NT on his machine)

Thanks. I just googled that, and it looks like it's a MMORPG. I should have specified that we're looking for a single player game. :)

This would actually be better in the Video game section, you might get more responses. This forum is mostly for silly games and quizzes.
I don't know any at the moment, I wish I could help you. Do you have a video game system? You could have more single player games that are more age appropriate.
There's updated versions of all the systems I'm suggesting, but I would assume the age ranges for the games would be around the same. If you're not really into getting expensive game systems, the ones I'm mentioning are cheaper because they've been out for longer. You can get them used for really cheap.
The PS2 has some good teen games, the gamecube has a few teen games and a lot of really fun "everybody" games (like Mario and Sonic sort of games). I think the xbox is a bit mature, at least from what I've read.
Good luck, I hope you find a good RPG or a good gaming system for your boy. I know my mom has a hard time picking games out for me because it's hard to get a grasp on the gaming world.

What about Dungeon Seige? That's kind of old, so I should think it'd work on Windows NT. Very addictive - fantasy, swords, trolls, orcs, etc. A friend of mine who introduced me to it described it as a bit like a single-player Runescape with a plot to follow.
