Worse than that, if they contain gluten, the gluten can act like an opiate in the brains of aspies. It's probably why I feel low-energy, tired, spaced out and yet anxious to some degree all the time.

Carbs can be lots of things though. The central nervous system (brain, spine) requires carbs for energy specifically (carbs, not gluten), and whole grains and things are not really fattening. Sugars are carbs too, and they can be. Good thing for me I really do love whole grains.
