How far along are you up to now?

Only about 14 miles, I'm afraid -- all within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Since I started hiking seriously about three years ago, I really haven't had the freedom to get away for longer than about a week twice a year.

That's pretty amazing.... I was in Tennessee last October and thought it was absolutely beautiful... All the hills and twists/ turns made me car sick though What do you like best about hiking?

Is it certain we can say things about ourselves without someone coming along and telling us to shut up? Is this much thought permitted?

Eastern Tennessee and Western North Carolina is gorgeous beyond description. I'll be back down there for a three-day backpacking trip next month, followed by another day hike before I leave. I'm counting down the days!
