The Fate of the Hirobumi ~ Sci Fi RP signup
The battle had raged for hours upon hours, the Hirobumi wouldn't last much longer at this rate. "Captain, we're losing containment on fission core. We have to eject the and try to limp away with secondary power cells!"
"NEVER! We will not retreat without killing our foe!" The Admiral's expression was iron. "No Retreat! No Surrender!"
"We'll die if we don't eject the core!"
As the engineer spoke massive explosions rocked the bridge, knocking down everyone.
Except for the Admiral.
"Man your posts! Engineer! Move us into position to fire the fission core directly at the Zeus and divert all emergency power to the engines and core ejection systems!" The Admiral had a huge grin and laughed loudly "We shall use our own weakness to kill them!"
"Yes sir!"
The Hirobumi broke the lines and flew directly towards the Zeus, massive scars were carved into her hull by the Mass Drivers and Railguns on the enemy ships. Even in the face of this the Admiral remained iron, fearless and grinning like a devil as the explosions rocked the ship back and forth.
As the Hirobumi came into range it literally went into a starboard slide, it looked as if it would crash right into the Zeus. But just as it seemed the Admiral had gone Kamikaze the ship rocked back started once again to friendly lines as it's main fission core ejected, the small greenish pod dashing right for the Zeus.
At first the hit seemed to do nothing, but after about two seconds massive archs of electricity cascaded into empty space and the hull of the ship turned molten red from heat. Within the next second the Zeus collapsed inward and released a massive shockwave.
"Admiral! We're losing engine power from the shockwave! We might not escape the singularity generated by the blast at this rate!"
"Divert life support power to the engines now! Eject the carrier pods!"
"Sir, the starboard pod is refusing to release! The blast damaged the controls!"'
"DAMNIT! All non-essential crew to the escape pods!" The Admiral was impossible to read even now as he activated the onboard PA to address the crew for the final time "Men, I have been blessed to serve with the likes of you. May we die quick deaths and never be forgotten."
"All surviving non-essential crew have made it to the escape pods and safety!"
Slowly the Hirobumi dragged against her will towards the massive singularity, her engines fighting valiantly every inch of the way.
When she reached the threshold it seemed to rip her to shreds.
But looks can be deceiving.
Instead, she rode it. Being beaten by the forces of space and time the whole way. When the Hirobumi finally emerged she was in completely alien space and nearly destroyed.
"What in the name of our lady Amaterasu!? Engineer! Engineer!"
And this where our tale begins....
In this RP we are onboard the USD Flagship Hirobumi which has been thrown billions of miles from known space and badly damaged with most of her crew also dead. There are no intelligent aliens unless I add them later, all crew members are humans with no special powers like psionics and such.

My character
Name: Minamoto Ieyasu
Rank: Vice Admiral, Commander of the Hirobumi
Specialization: Expert on military tactics and war in general, also fluent in japanese, english, korean, and most forms of chinese. expert on asian history and swordplay
Appearence: A dominating man at six foot two inches with a tight, harsh face. japanese. Moderately muscular and mildly overweight. Wears tradional USD Admiral's uniform with the exception of a Tachi worn jindachi-zukuri style (similar to the way modern officers wear sabers)
Personality: Blunt, controlled and decisive the Admiral (as he usually called by his crew) considers himself a space-age samurai and follows the code of Bushido. He is also an extremely religious member of the Shinto religion and can sometimes be seen praying for good fortunes for the Kami of the Hirobumi. His weakness is the fact he can be become egotisical when he gains the upper hand, and though his lose of temper is rare it is truly frightening, he becomes completely enraged and loses all concept of self control and in extreme cases has become suicidal.
I'd like to try this one more time before I give up on RPs, this time I'd like at least three other RPers before we start.
Lets see if we can't make this one last longer.

Sorry, I was working on a character for the other one... but didn't develop it to a satisfactory level...
I would like to try an RP... but I am not exactly creatively quick.
Edit:Also, I am not that big of an roleplayer... it would probably fizzle if I was one of the few who played...

How would you describe it, like a push or shove?
Guess I could pretend that this is all I need
Wanting more than what I have might appear as greed.
I feel the same way as Pugly. I'd really like to RP, but I'm still kind of disappointed about how the last one fizzled. My creativity comes when it wants to, and is difficult to crank out "on demand" (especially since the only time I'm available to play, usually, is after a long workday) so I'm hesitant to put forth the effort unless I'm more confident that there will be a large turnout and/or people aren't going to drop out of it after only a few days.
Maybe we need to explore and figure out what exactly went wrong with the others?

Yes, I want to know what happened to Wastelands.
I, for one, really enjoyed it and I thought the storyline was really going nicely. I would have enjoyed it more if there had been a higher turnout, of course. Aspieness and feeling "on the spot" (not to mention in the spotlight) don't tend to mix well.
There have got to be posters out there who are reading this and not saying anything. It'd be cool if some of you would speak up to say why you don't play. I am sure most needs could be accomodated, if only we knew.

Yes, I can switch things around a little if you ask and elaborate on vaguely touched topics.
Meh, worth a shot. I've got character ideas coming out of my ears, gotta use them somewhere.
NAME Dibble Thing
RANK Private
SPECIALIZATION Cleaning food dispensers
APPEARENCE Bushy hair, blue eyes, small nose, monkey-like appearance, small baody, long legs, short arms.
PERSONALITY After the death of her brother and father, she went crazy, drving her to a suicide attempt. The attempt involved hitting her head, causing a complete loss of memory. Her new goals in life were all military, unfortunately, she's not the most physically capable.
She's fun-loving, funny, smart, random, and always mindful and respectful of her superiors. She loves eating whatever she can get her hands on. However, the old Dibble (whom she refers to as Diana), will sometimes resurface. When that happens, you better hope there's a brig nearby cos she turns highly unstable and homocidal.
Enjoyo mucho
