My name is Rita. I'm a 17-year-old Aspie sitting in geography class when the fire alarm rings. Of course, I'm relieved. Fire drill. If I'm lucky, it'll go on for the rest of the class, until lunch. No more difficult, boring geography until the next geo class in two days! Wait; four days! It's Friday!


As we file out into the hall, I smell smoke. And then there's an explosion. The building shakes. Windows smash. Someone screams. A boy, screaming like a girl.

Noxious gas is coming out of the chem lab. I don't know what it is, but two people fall down after a few seconds, and the rest of us are running for the stairs, falling down, gasping, grabbing onto each other for support, falling down the stairs, coughing, sneezing, puking, bringing up phlegm, panting and sucking and moaning and twitching, spazzing and swaying. Another boy passes out.

Strapples speeds past everyone and running people over as he goes for the exits in his powerchair making sure to weave in and out of the falling rubble.

CLASSIC AUTISM

There's a resounding crack and a doglike whimper/howl. Strapples looks back as he rounds the corner to the disabled persons' elevator. It look like he just ran over a seventh-grader and broke his spine.


Strapples isn't alone in the elevator. There's also a girl with a cane and dark glasses, and Strapples's biology teacher, and a boy on crutches.

Strapples was an engineering student. He hung ot with other geeky engineering students who all probably had AS like he did. They had snuck into the school and done this in the middle of the night. Their plan had been to shock others who picked on them by kidnapping them and taking them into the elevator and telling them they would never see their families again.

The elevator kept rising. Then the parachute opened and they drifted a while and down they went, on top of a house.

ten Aspies who lived with him.


Meanwhile, a crowd of students, teachers, and other staff were gathered on the front lawn of the school, staring. The principal was in a third floor office window hurriedly trying to make a ladder out of paperclips to climb down. A science class were all jumping out their third-floor classroom window, some breaking their bones as they fell with audible cracks. One boy, Rita's brother Zee, bleeding from the head, was dragged away from the school and onto the lawn. The gym teacher tried to run back into the school to get some mats, but two of the three vice-principals held him back.

He started yelling at them that they were nuts themselves; that he was trying to prevent kids from breaking bones, and they yelled back at him that he was psychotic and delusional.

Ana54 is sedated and carried to bed by the nurses who overhear her deranged screams. I win.

Next please!
