The World Languages Test

This was hard! Unless maybe you have once studied languages or have taken an interest in languages.

Language Savvy

You scored a 240 out of 400 on language knowledge.

Congratulations! You know your stuff! You've scored higher than most people would and you probably have taken a linguistics or cultural science class to boot. Most likely you are bilingual or even multilingual. You are also probably fascinated by languages and want to learn more of them in the future. When you travel to a foreign country, you make a point to learn some of the language instead of imposing your own. It's people like you who help promote the exchange of languages worldwide. Keep it up!

250, same comment as you 2 (obviously since I am between you both :P). I guessed loads of those though!

It's true I've studied languages a bit and I try to learn a bit of a country's language before I go. Just downloaded some teach yourself Spanish stuff in fact for my holiday to the Galapagos in September. Still had to guess a lot though!

Outstanding! You've scored higher than even most Anthropology students would. You are probably a Linguistics or Anthropology Professor yourself (or at least a Grad student). You may even speak several languages and are possibly working on a new one. If not, then you just have an endless drive to learn about the different cultures of our world. Regardless, you are one of the gems of any society, always promoting a deeper understanding amongst all people. Unless you cheated of course.

No, but I have a good memory for this sort of thing, I do have an interest in languages/cultures, I do speak 3 languages, I've traveled, I've known people from many countries and a good basic grasp of world history helps (that's how I figured the first Europeans to reach the Americas spoke Old Norse and how I knew Portuguese was an official language of Angola, as well as that Afrikaans comes from Dutch). That Paraguay is bilingual in Spanish and guarani I knew thanks to her literature. A fair bit of the African languages were guesses, as were several of the ones for indigenous languages in the US and Canada.

The Commoner

You scored a 120 out of 400 on language knowledge.

The Commoner
Well done, you scored about what would be expected for someone who has not studied a cultural or linguistic science. You have basic knowledge about most major languages and you may even know somethings about lesser known languages. You may even speak a second language. However, there is still plenty more to find out about the world, don't give up traveling.

180/400... I guess being able to learn them isn't the
same as having general knowledge about them.

You knew a heck of a lot more than me, and I mostly guessed.

270 :?

I noticed some things on the test that could possibly be construed as misleading.
