When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

I only use my TV as an extra screen for my computer or watching anime...
Other then that I don't watch TV unless I want to see the radar without getting on my computer

I don't watch T.V. that often, except for the Discovery Health Channel, a 1960s music channel, some movies and DVDs. Most of today's programming stinks, and I can't even stand to watch some of the old shows anymore. I used to like E.R., but it is boring now.

TV for the most part if shallow/boring to me.

There have been a few shows on that I will catch now and then. Cities of the Underworld, Mythbusters, The Weather Channel, Modern Marvels, and 1-2 others that I can't remember.

I maybe watch TV 4-5 hours a month. Not a big deal.

Commercials generally annoy me. I start getting into a show and then it is interrupted by a commercial. Bleh...

Most of what I watch is on DVD: Babylon 5, Star Trek, and Firefly come to mind. I have lots of science fiction and fantasy movies to watch too (great inspiration when I want to be creative.)

No I dont watch TV. Only videos.

Its mostly because of the advertisements.

I really hate that almost all resturants have TVs in them now. I can't talk to my friends at dinner theyre distracted.

I usually see movies at the second run theater its less boring but I wait untill the commercials are over before I go in to sit down.

Haven't owned a TV for over 20 years and have no desire to get one. The occasional glimpses I get of it tell me I am not missing anything. And now that a lot of shows are coming out on DVD, I can just get the DVD and watch them without all the annoying commercials.

I used to watch TV more when I was younger, but the shows were so much more different then. Frankly I feel I am a much calmer person by not watching it. I am wondering if the reason there are so many kids with ADD and ADHD is the type of stimulation they get from watching TV. The images are very jumpy, and the music--I don't know if any one else has noticed it--but TV music is not designed to be soothing. It's brassy and blaring. Even movies are not as hard on my nerves.

I have also wondered about the link between TV and autism. Not that TV "causes" autism, though we are bombarding our bodies with levels of electromagnetic radiation that never before existed in nature (now, I know some people will call me a kook for even bringing that up), but TV does tend to blur the line between reality and fantasy, and if you are an individual like myself who had issues with that, well, I am a bit concerned with some of the trends I see in society, like virtual reality. What I am trying to say, is that if you are a person who has a tendency to live in a self-created world, becoming immersed in TV may not help you deal with real life issues and may actually delay emergence out of an autistic-like state. Never before in history have people had the opportunity to escape into fantasy like they do today. I am not against using one's imagination, after all, that is where the greatest works of literature come from, but I wonder if it is healthy to be exposed to so much so constantly. But that is just my opinion and I may very well be wrong.

OHHHHHH I HATE THAT!

I don't go out to eat and watch sports or the news or some sitcom!

I really hate all the noise not just at restaurants with televisions, but just in general when people are talking louder than they need to.
Also when bands are playing at an event where you are sitting and eating with others.
I have never understood that, since you have to raise your voice to be heard and everyone is doing the same thing...

anyway.. I either don't go to those places or I go knowing what's in store but because it's my choice to go... I have to live with the noise.

There's only two places locally I go to sometimes to eat where they have televisions... a pizza parlor we really like, and a brewery.

I do not watch the television, but I do watch television programs on DVD and downloading them from iTunes. Both allow me to watch when I want to watch, how I want to watch, and I am able to avoid commercials. We do own a television, but it is used for watching DVDs or playing a few video games (we cannot understand the programs anyway as they are all in a language that is foreign to us). I do find great comfort in having some programs on a video iPod, especially when traveling as it helps me stay calm if I have a "world" to turn to (whether that is through videos, movies, music, podcasts, or audiobooks).

I use the TV mostly for sports and Jeopardy. The web is better for news and weather since I can get the relevant stuff. For example, I'd be more concerned with a particular story about, say, a technology issue than I would be with, for example, a big storm in an area 2000 miles from where I live.

Not really into any shows. Used to watch Power Rangers every day when I was young.

This thread reminds me of a line from one of my favorite episodes of Star Trek TNG.

During First Contact with Captain Picard, a scientist learns the Enterprise crew has been learning about her culture by watching their TV: "I hate to think what impression you'd get of us from the daily broadcasts."

I really got into the West Wing, but it's the only show I can think of that held my interest very long, apart from documentaries. I never really enjoyed watching TV and would generally rather read or spend hours on the internet. I've moved into a flat with no television and find that I don't miss it at all... I can always watch DVDs on my computer, and TV shows these days are tripe.
