I'm not sure about what happened here, but it crossed my mind that someone might have thought I was a child. I went to the ticket office at my train station and my daughter was outside, so I appeared to be alone. I asked for a 'kids go free' ticket. This just means that if you buy an adult return ticket, you get your kids on for free. It's common for people to ask for a 'kids go free' ticket, simply because that's what they're called. The station man said, 'You can't get that without an adult fare too'. I wondered at first if he thought I was buying a ticket for my 7yr old, to go on her own (as if). But, if he knew I had a child with me, it was strange for him to question my request, as I asked for the right thing and it should have made perfect sense that I was buying a ticket for the two of us. So, I've come to the conclusion that he thought I was buying a child ticket for myself and that I had assumed I could get it for free, like the name of the ticket suggests. When I explained that I wanted the adult ticket and the free child ticket, for my daughter outside, he looked a little startled and had to compose his thoughts. That was weird. Now, I just ask for a one and a half return and hope they don't have to be reminded that the child ticket is free.

I've looked about the right age throughout most of my life, but drinking and drugging for many years may have belatedly taken its toll. I've been totally clean for 5 years. I'm 39 and look about 43. Maybe its just stress, its been a very challenging 5 years for many reasons.

I'm 39, and if I've groomed myself properly, I get mistaken for mid-20's.
HOWEVER, I also have full dentures, and if you see me without my teeth, I look MUCH older.. 60-70...

I thought it would be funny to try and get the senior discount at IHOP one day. Nobody else thought it was amusing.. hehe

I'm 28 and pass for 19-21 when I shave my beard and put my contacts in.

I've decided to embrace it for now. I think of it as getting a second chance to live out my 20s (my first go around hasn't been so great), rather than an insult.

I am 23, but people think I am 14-15 years old. They think Im some kind of genius when I tell them I am doing a MA, then i realize they think I'm way too young :D I act like a kid sometimes too, so both the look and the behavior doesn't suggest I am an adult.

Now that I am 37 people finally think I am in my early 20's. Up until about 3 years ago people thought I was 18. The questions have moved from "did you decide on a college yet?" to "are you still in school or on a break for the semester?". Its such an awkward moment for people when I tell them I am almost 40.

I hear that! I just turned 21 and I am told I look 14 on a daily basis. It sucks so much. But on the bright side when we're 75 we'll look like we are still in our 50's or 60's :)
On a side note, I've read in several different books on Asperger's Syndrome that people with A.S, like me, sometimes look and act about 2/3's their stated age. What do you think?

I'm 24, yet people sometimes think I'm anywhere between 17 and 19. I sometimes grow a beard just to look mature.

Hey, it ain't all bad. I've used it to get cheaper tickets, and drinks when going out.

I look a lot younger than I am except my hair which is thinning out. Also, I don't act my age. Nearly all of my friends are around 10 years younger than me.

As a kid, I always looked older and when I got older I always looked younger.

Guess I never fit in.

I've had many people comment on how good my skin complexion is, and they're surprised to find that I'm older than I appear.

I'm 34 and the young ladies in their early 20s still think I look 25.

On the other hand, the other day I went to a bar and didn't get carded for the first time, so maybe I'm starting to look like I'm a bit older.

I am 50. I often get told that I look like I am in my 30s (despite my thinning hair). When I was in my 30s (and 40s), I would get carded whenever I went to a bar (which was not too often) or a casino.

The woman who works at my dry cleaner's thought I'm 21. I'm actually 30...
