Aspergers & Title IX
Hello,
This is mostly a diagnosis question. The short if it is I am looking for diagnosis in the San Francisco Bay Area, as an adult. I have looked at some threads and searched the find a therapist tool but I didn't find anyone that specialized in ASD.
About four years ago, I had a consultation where the counselor at first said she thought I had aspergers, then changed her mind and said my problem was a sensory processing disorder. She said that aspies don't have bffs or hold down full time jobs like I have. She was not qualified to give a medical diagnosis and told me I could go through the process of seeking one but it would take time and money.
I didn't continue to seek a diagnosis, I just let it drop, though I did not agree with her findings. Self knowlege was good enough for me at that point.
Unfortunately, later that year I needed disability documentation during a grueling Title IX lawsuit. I am now filing a new Title IX lawsuit and need the diagnosis urgently.
I have medi-cal and plan to ask my new GP for a referal. I also have something set up with a psychiatrist, but in both cases I expect neither has much experience with adult ASD. I have called a regional center and they said they only deal with children.
So my question is, how do I go about speeding up this assessment process, given that I need documentation for a serious lawsuit? Are there any legal advocacy orgs that may have info?
And lastly, has anyone filed a title ix and had their inability to understand social interactions play a role with that?
